confused There seems to be a problem with the Cancer project and Vista 32 bit

I am getting entirely too many errors on the cancer project with a computer that should not be getting any errors. It is not overclocked (don't tell my Xtremesystems teammates!). Please check out the project. Specs for the computer below:

OS: Vista Ultimate 32
Motherboard: Intel DG965WH <that's why it isn't overclocked
CPU: Q6700
RAM: Buffalo Select PC2-5300 (2 X 1GB + 2 X 512MB)
PSU: PC P&C Silencer 610
CPU cooler: Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme
Case: CM 690 with 2 X 140mm fans (1 in side panel, 1 in top) + 2 X 120mm fans (1 in front + 1 in back).

There is no reason that I can find for this computer to throw errors. Everything is running at stock speeds and nothing is getting too hot. I've swapped memory (was running Crucial) but that didn't help. No problems at all with this computer except for the WCG errors.

How many errors are "too many"?

I believe HCC has a much higher error rate than other projects, running at maybe 1-3% of all work units.

If you are talking about work unit failures, rather than invalid results, then please give us the specific work unit error data, so we can take a look.

Thank you, and Happy Christmas.

Re: There seems to be a problem with the Cancer project and Vista 32 bit

I run FightAids... and get error reports when the computer shuts down while running a task. When the task is tranmitted to the server then there are errors and it is not valid then. Happend twice with me in exactly same circumstances
Have to put the running tasks in hold and then shut down the computer. For some reason in Vista the program has no time to save the files when the computer is shutting down. Imean total shutdown, not going into hybernation. Running 5.10.30 Boinc client and Vista 32bit premium.

Hello Serge50,
The thread on Vista discusses a possible fix in Section 5: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=12856

Even so, it can be a good idea to Exit BOINC before shutting down.
