I have been running with UD client for more than one year without problem. At the chance of recent outage of WCG server during Dec. 11-13th, 2007, ( my local time), I have not known the reason outage, and tried to fresh down load, then find out BOINC client module.
----------------------------------------With running BOINC client, task status persists " ready to report" for more than 5 hours and it seems contuniued forever. It means my BOINC client is unable to report or up load the result by some reason. On the other hand, next task is given and running it, this means task down loading is functioning in spite of upload is in halt. I have read HELP " trouble shooting", "problems connecting server" sections, but I could not find any helpful message. UD client is very simple in terms of user setting and BOINC is rather complicated for novice or layman member. I do not think myself is novice though. If I say the opinion, if WCG wants more members from world, the client software must be much simple for any client members. Back to my problem, to solve long or exit from status " redat to report", which HELP statement will help me or any other comment to check my client software setting. My PC is installing Symantec Norton 360 by the way and no problem is facing by Microsoft IE7. Thank you and Merry Christmas ! [Edit 1 times, last edit by sho-suke-JPN at Dec 24, 2007 1:22:27 AM] |

The server can report now or later.
----------------------------------------If you have some reports waiting and want to force it to report, go to the BOINC advanced view "Projects" tab. This is useful for dial-up when connect time is limited. Set it on the project line line with "World Community Grid". Hit the "Update" button at the top. Report should be "acknowledged" in a few minutes. Watch the "tasks" tab. If you have several workunits sent, you should get a download of more workunits in a few minutes more. How many you get (in bunches up to 10) depends on the size of your queue, controlled by the number of days between network connect in your device profile. (My grid/device Manager) selected Profile: default/home/school/work whichever one your device is connected to Workunit Cache Settings Connect to network about every [0.1] days Cache [ ] extra days of work ------------------------------------ Default of 0.1 days is only 2.4 hours. Mine is set to 3.0 days to get more work on hand.

Hello sho-suke-JPN,
'Ready to Report' is explained here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16783 When it shows , it means that the result has been returned to the server but a special message has not been sent to the Scheduler database yet. It puzzles many people (including me), who think that the server should update the Scheduler database once the result has been returned, However, I have read an explanation written by a developer who explained that it was more efficient because it sometimes allowed several database updates to be made simultaneously. It looks like this anomaly will be addressed in version 6, since it does cause some confusion. They would still prefer that reporting be batched and sent up as a group, either manually or automatically.:
----------------------------------------This is one of the parameters that can be set in the configuration file (not yet for 5.10. Wait for 6.1): <report_results_immediately> If set, each job will be reported to the project server as soon as it's finished (normally it's deferred for up to a day, so that several jobs can be reported in one request). Using this option increases the load on project servers, and should generally be avoided. It's intended to be used on computer whose disks are reformatted every day. New in 6.1 If you have something to send and know that you will not be connected again for awhile, it is always possible to do a manual project update when you want to report workunits.
