where is server status?

I can't see where on the website at
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/
to find server status information.

Maybe it's there but needs to be made easier to find?

Regards,
..jim

Re: where is server status?

While the thread you referenced does contain a description of a particular server outage, I think something more comprehensive than that is what the original poster (and myself) are looking for.

It would be helpful to have an idea of which servers are up and running, and how many WU's are ready to be sent out, updated on a close-to-realtime basis. A separate server page such as I've described are common at other BOINC sites, such as SETI@Home or Lattice.

Re: where is server status?

The server/overall project status is tracked at a central website:

http://boincprojectstatus.ath.cx/

Just pick WCG. The hourly graph is rather meaningless as the lines lie against the top at 100% for some time now. It´s been that since Dec.22

Re: where is server status?

It's common at other projects because the page is a part of the standard BOINC package.

But the WCG scheduler is a lot more complicated than the standard scheduler, and there are the many sub-projects as well. In short, detailed status information isn't meaningful to the average member, and why should you even care if the transitioner is taken down for a few hours?

As far as I can tell, the server status page in the BOINC server code is primarily of use to the project administrators. Really, there is little call to have it public at all.

I know there are a few members out there (like me) who think more information is better. But for the average user, all that data is meaningless, confusing, and gets in the way of the important information.

So, if WCG do provide a status page, it will be greatly simplified.

Re: where is server status?

So all we average users shouldn't worry our pretty little heads with all that complicated science stuff, then? :))
