Re: Interactive Project Map

The WCG staff aren't all based at the same office, so putting "WCG headquarters" on may be difficult.

Why aren't they all in the same office? Seems inconvenient.
For some reason I thought WCG was in the Triangle Park complex. thinking

Re: Interactive Project Map

Didactylos,

How did you attain that level of proficiency in Java Script? I tried to learn it, and I am still having some problems doing basic things. Did you use some type of program to help generate the script?

Re: Interactive Project Map

brinktastee, they're part of IBM. I think most of the techs are at the same location, but I know the datacenter where the WCG servers are is a long way away, and the staff are at two other locations that I know of. IBM should be good at coordinating remote teams, anyway.

When the site is translated, WCG staff work with IBM translators in the target country. Native speakers can translate technical language much better than anyone else.

Re: Interactive Project Map

littlepeaks, after C, C++, Java and C#, a bit of JavaScript doesn't scare me. Much.

The secret (if there is one) is to treat it like a strongly typed OO language. To do this, you need to learn about prototypes and closures. Also, steer well clear of any browser-specific stuff. All the browsers have their own non-standard extensions. Avoid them.

I don't use any tools for JavaScript programming, except for Firebug to help me debug.
