Boinc Failing To Download WCG Work Units
Hello

My BOINC Client is having problems downloading work units from WCG. All other BOINC projects are working fine (download and upload).

Any ideas what might be going wrong? I am connecting to the internet through a proxy server but this isn't causing any problems for any other projects.

I am running BOINC 5.10.28 on Windows XP and the Messages tab output is shown below:

My job was a Cancer job and yours failing is an AIDS one.

Is this your first BOINC contact with WCG from that machine (see no Venue being specified)? Secure comms (WCG only) & Proxy is a big topic and several threads exist with a few workarounds. Upgrading to the WCG 5.10,30 version would be the first step. Get it from the Download page (link on WCG home page).

Absolutely

If you confirm that the particular machine connected previously successfully, it might not be the issue.... i see some points for you over at BOINCstats, but the last return being on Dec.05.

Yep, BOINCstats has no secrets at all. You have a Server 2003 and a Linux box reporting results, but no Windows XP (reported in your log)

Any ideas? My Linux box and Windows Server 2003 machines at home work ok but there is no proxy server involved of course.

If you would please peruse the following thread and also tell us what proxy server you need to get thru. If at work, you'd probably need to obtain some info from your IT admin.

I tried the solution using ntlmaps without success so I will just do WCG work units at home only for now until BOINC client supports working behind an NTLM ISA server natively.

Thanks for your help anyway. Is there a reason why all my other BOINC project work ok and only WCG has problems?

Re: Boinc Failing To Download WCG Work Units
The one unique difference and something that Berkeley had to add to BOINC before it being accepted by WCG, is the HTTPS/SSL communications and the need for port 443 to be open for outward comms initialisation. That's why you see the 'reference site' line as BOINC after failing tries to ping www.google.com to check if there is internet access at all.

If you are trying to set them up just now, it's not the server, the Project is down at the moment due to maintenance.
