I don't want to have today's milestones get lost in the celebration. As is normally the case on any given day, our member milestones are typically shared by members new and old. wrr has been with us since shortly after the WCG first started. shawnangelo is new to the team this year. Great points milestones folks! Silver Surfer, Dataman, sulcata and Jonathan Figdor are all new to the team this year and are already making their presence known. Coingames has been with us since about six months after the very beginning, hit 3,500,000 points just the other day and now crosses the 20,000 results mark! Awesome work by everyone!

Re: smile smile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 22 smile smile

I want to add my personal thanks to everyone for the effort you've made this year....so far (since it's not finished yet biggrin )!! I can remember back when I first mentioned this goal. I honestly don't know what was behind the idea at the time. I know our output was on the decline and we got as low as 80,000-90,000 points a day as a team. I think we can say that we've grown back to a point where we double that and more on any given day. Another point to note is that while there were 144 members contributing to this accomplishment, about half of that was the best we had on any one day during the year. That makes everyone contribution even more important!

While we're not done yet with 2007, it is time to start looking ahead to 2008. We will face new challenges but we did that this year just fine. I think one of the biggest will be the end of the UD agent here. WCG has always been positioned as a load and forget commitment to its members. Many folks across all of WCG out there don't realize they still have it running. With the end of the UD agent, we will see a sizable drop in the number of members we have returning a result each day. That will have an impact on our combined output as well. We can expect to see a drop off about five months or so from now as summertime hits here "up above". A stronger presence "down under" ( that includes South America, Africa and more too, not just OZ ) would help offset that. We have folks taking extended vacations then, folks out of colleges and universities, and others who seek to avoid having their homes self-combust from the combined heat output of all their crunchers! Recruiting is going to be important in 2008.

I like Blizzie's suggestions about team challenges. Joining in some of the open challenges is good and we'll be doing more of that. Best though is one on one team challenges, ones where we go up against an evenly matched team so both of us have just as good as a chance at winning. Please pass along any candidate teams you know of. We'll be seeing progress with the website as well. I'm hoping to have the home page, or its shell, up next. There will not be much off of it that will work at first as there's a lot of "foundation" work to be done at first. How some things get done in the beginning will affect what we will and won't be able to do with it later too. It should at least provide an idea of what to expect down the road. I'm hoping to strongly leverage it for recruiting uses, greatly expand on the statistical reporting and provide improved recognition of each member's efforts. There may be a surprise or two as well. I really appreciate everyone's patience with this!

Re: smile smile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 22 smile smile

Dont go PC on us--its no big deal-Blizzie took it well-it wont be the last mistake you make---By the way how is the website going.?If you need some cash for things i would be glad to help--Merry Christmas!!!

Gerald, I think you'll find me being one of the last to go PC. But PC has nothing to do with this. I once had a friend years back that told me I didn't look like a Keith, that I looked like a Neil so he called me Neil over the time he knew me. What really freaked folks was the way I'd respond to him whenever he called me that. Confused the daylights out of them. His being ex-Army Ranger (with the heft to match) didn't exactly encourage dissension either. laughing Then again, I'm happy when folks call me anything that can be repeated in mixed company! biggrin

When your primary if not only means of communication with someone is text only, there's a lot of information that isn't part of the message like we're used to. It's too easy to "tootsie pop" your foot. There's plenty we don't know about each other and, let's face it, we all have something that just won't set right that no one else sees a problem with. There's nothing to be gained by mindlessly slapping the backside of a polecat. If you're going to do something like that, be sure it's REALLY worth it. wink

Well, I celebrated!!! I hope everyone else did. wink

I'm going to have some machines down today to restack the rack for better air flow and do a bit of dust managment. A friend (bless her heart hugs ) gave me HP quad for christmas. I should have it by Friday. biggrin

The good news is all the single cores have been decommissioned. I'm going to clean them up and take them up to the local elementary school. By the weekend I should have a new configuration of 5 quads and 3 duo's. All I need now is a nuclear power plant in one of the corrals to provide electricity!!! laughing biggrin laughing biggrin

New Year's Resolution: Study up on overclocking. cool

Happy New Year!

That's a lot of crunching power. Do they all run WCG exclusively or do you have them doing other things too?

I think I will open an old bottle of wine. biggrin
