Good stuff Blizzie with the OCing project. I'm just starting to get involved in that stuff myself. I'm thinking of getting a new graphics card; do you have any suggestions? What are you looking for: ATI or Nvidia? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130303 8800GT. Depends on what games you play and how resource hungry they are. Nvidia is coming out with their new series soon, but it'll be high priced. This one came out about a month ago.I wish I had the money to buy it. I only have an 7600GT. We should get some pictures of our crunching rigs up. ![]() |

I really don't know if I want to go NVIDIA or ATI. I've always owned ATI, but then again, I've always owned Intel and I'm starting to doubt pentium's dominence over AMD. I have a budget of less than 200 (about 180 is what I want to spend). I was thinking about these cards. Let me know if you think I'm way off or if I'm onto something.

There's not much to say about me here. Haha.
I'm just a learning computer technician in my last year of high school. I play around with overclocking and building computers in my spare time. Wish I had more money. Currently have 6 cores crunching. Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 GHz (hope to get to 3.6 GHz over winter break) Core 2 Quad @ 2.4 GHz. (too poor to afford a better motherboard so I can overclock it) I own uh... I own.. that corner of MOT's lobby. [/quoBlizzie---Welcome to this MOTley crew--You have some serious crunching power there ![]() |

Besides, It's EVGA goodness and $140 after rebate. I'm not so good with ATI, not my thing with Intel. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130084 If you want something better, make the jump to the 8800GT 512 MB. Can you name some games you'll be playing; then I can see what card will fit you best. And thank you marysduby. Glad to meet you. ![]() Edit: By the way, what's your computing power? Just wondering since looks at your results returned. CPU and GHz would be nice; thank you. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 10, 2007 2:19:15 AM] |

It was a good day for MOT!
---------------------------------------- Blizzie, a new member, that is a serious cruncher and likes to post, and OK numbers from all the team. Blizzie came within 81 points of kickin’ my backside. Sorry to see only 48 members returned a result today but it is a Sunday in the holiday season. Better day tomorrow. It sure was an up-and-down day for the WCG forum. This was the longest outage I can remember for a long time. But the crunchin’ servers were up all day as best I can tell. Poor day for me 12/09/2007 0:011:17:25:41 18,083 81 But since I now have 86 WU’s in PV jail, when they validate I should get a good spike. Good news for me is that I swapped the drive in the machine with the dead power supply with the one with the dead drive. It’s only a single core but what the heck, I will keep it up until we make our numbers. I’m back to nine. Happy Holidays! ![]() ![]() |
