Not wanting to confuse the issue, but what is this Data directory: C:\COM\Search\BOINC ?

What happened after the 'Restart'? Did it go back to 00:00 minutes / 0.000% progress or does is resume somewhere near the progress time you closed down same as before?

Suggest you do a thorough check on your security software and system permissions logs and tell them to complete ignore anything happening in the ...\BOINC\ application and project/slot and also to set your Website Device Profile to explicitly use only 1 processor if it's a 'hyperthreading' CPU. After, update in the Project tab, so the "General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 31-Dec-1969 19:00:01)" starts reading a more current date.

The C:\COM\Search\BOINC directory is the directory in which the BOINC client is installed. All my machines have used a similarly structured installation directory since Y2K, for successive agents/clients and projects.

If the CRE error window is recognized/cleared without reboot, the work unit restarts from 0/0/0 and stalls at the ~ same time stamp. If the OS is rebooted without clearing the CRE error window, the work unit restatrs with a slightly backdated timestamp and completes successfully.

This machine is a reconditioned Dell product using an Intel P-IV 2800MHz

Hello legg,
You have given the techs a number of listings showing that screen saver DLL error now. If I were you, I would set my preferences to ignore screen savers and switch to a non-BOINC screen saver. If it still goes wrong, at least it should show a new type of error.

Wish I had a brilliant idea for a solution, but . . .

The agent currently runs continuously.

CREs occur with no external activity and a powered-down screen.

I've set screen saver to 'none', now, in any event.

No news (from me) on this issue will be good news.

It'd be ineresting to know what 'normally happens' at ~10hr 14min on these work units.

Looks like the problem is solved by disabling the screen saver.

Units of HCC and FEAH show no CREs over the last reporting period.
