Re: Invaild results??

For obscure (unknown) reason got 5 'inconclusive' in the last days and only on HCC jobs. 3 Turned 'Invalid' and 1 valid and one is waiting (from the early hours). Booted straight after the last one going into nail biter state (it's a tad annoying). I'm bad, but windows is windows regardless the version, so it can be good for a month (until the next patch Tuesday), or it gets wobbly after a few days.... hoping the boot restored system sanity for a wee bit.

Good thing is (NOT angry ), that those boys in Redmond now do a forced unattended boot, even if you don't want, have auto-update switched off and told it to only patch when approved (by me) and there is real live work in an application not saved. beat up

Re: Invalid results??

I have had two results, one in HCC and one in HPF, both marked as "invalid" and awarded half credit. I presumed that this was because they are deemed to be "overclaiming" however in each case I am using the stock BOINC client and manager. One is on Windows and one on Linux. Machines are top end spec and fast for type.

What I find puzzling is that in the first case, the credit claim is the MIDDLE claim (the higher one was marked valid!) and in the other one, the claim was very similar to another that was marked valid.

Results are:

lk679_00024

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Re: Invalid results??

Hello Wang Solutions,
As far as I know, Invalid is used to mark results that do not match the quorum. It does not have anything to do with credit overclaiming. When knreed started the new credit overclaim policy,he used Invalid for a short time to show that credit was overclaimed, but it was too confusing so he stopped.

That is what I thought too, but they were awarded half credit, and normally ones marked as invalid get no credit (or so I believe?).

Re: Invalid results??

Invalid results get half credit. Error results get nothing (although sometimes credit is awarded manually if the error was WCG's fault).

Re: Invalid results??

Didactylos pointed out the post announcing half credit for Invalid (which I could not find): http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=9545
