smile low-priority comments/suggestions

I have a few really nitpicky comments straight face

First, I earlier was wondering what the difference was between credits and points, the points being greater than the credits. Well I think that one of the support pages (viewTopic.do?shortName=points) answered my question smile.

However, the way the FAQ (main FAQ, not forum FAQ) was worded, it wasn't immediately obvious that was the answer I was looking for, because the answer, which explained that your server multiples the BOINC client's credits by 7 before posting them on the website, was in answer to a question ("Why does my BOINC agent show different points than the web site?") different than mine. So I guess my suggestion is to add new verbiage (italicized) to the FAQ, thus: "Why does my BOINC agent show different points than the web site? What is the difference between credits and points?" (No need to duplicate the answer. Just insert the new question between the existing question and the existing answer.)

The other thing that I noticed is that if I multiply the credits by 7, I get a number a little bit different than the number of points in my statistics screen, and the difference seems just very slightly more than that which would be explained merely by rounding error.

Finally, I noticed what seems to be a misspelling in the "results log" page, which I understand contains the output of the science application itself. If you look at the results log for workunit dddt0201i0530_ZINC04781701-0000_00, you might see:
About to call graphics init
Restoring grahics. bestEnergy: -6.085760 maxGenSeen: 6750
AG Check: Found receptor.A.map

I hope that this typo is the only bug that there is in the entire science application, as the science is really important! smile

Re: low-priority comments/suggestions

Hi jonathandl,

WYSINWYG.... all credit/point values are computed to six digit exact but cut off in presentation to either 2, 1, 0 zero decimals. Here's a sample.

<host_total_credit>44780.285119</host_total_credit>

(sorry, could not resist using italics for emphasis)

have a nice weekend smile

shock "results status" screen

The Results Status screen seems to have gone down. Is there something wrong with the server, or is it just my account?

Re: "results status" screen

Hi jonathandl. I just checked my results status screen and all is well here.

Why not try again?

Thanks!

Re: low-priority comments/suggestions

jonathandl, the words "credit", "work done" and "points" are synonymous, and sometimes used interchangeably.

In particular, BOINC has had a policy change about terminology, and not all the references are consistent.

It's enough that you understand the difference between BOINC points and WCG points. As you do, evidently :-)
