Very nicely put, rwillis
- the way you describe what we are and what we do - but also your appropriate question. I clicked "like", too. ![]() |

This poetic Danish song sprang to mind, and I'm happy to be able to give you an English translation
----------------------------------------of the text of this song known by all Danes, as we all tend to have our feet in the ground so to speak. Farmers we all were once. The quality of the music could be better but the sweetness of the girls make up for it, I think Jeg er havren, jeg har bjælder på "The Oats" - English lyrics by S.D. Rodholm Here I stand with tinkling bells galore, Twenty on each straw, I think, or more. But the farmer, bless his honest soul, Calls me oats and speaks of twenty fold. I was sown while happy birds in spring Made with joyful song the welkin ring. Bumble bees in wild and tumbling race, In the mellow sunshine droned the bass. Growing up in sunny morning dew That sweet Symphony within me grew. He who listens humbly while I ring, Hears the echo of the songs of spring. Cold, unfeeling hearts can never see Anything but cattle-feed in me. I am more than food for hungry jaws, I am song of birds on golden straws. I am friends with everything that grows, Friends with every gentle wind that blows, Friends with waving trees and summer skies, Friends with daisies and with butterflies. When the sun goes down, its parting smile Lingers on my golden head a while, And when evening bells ring out, I too Tinkle, standing tip-toe in the dew. I am ringing children to their beds, Ringing up the mist that slowly spreads, Ringing peace, as busy day departs, Into humble homes and pious hearts. You took the step over to *The Survivors* already.
Thank you, sunfolk.Yes, it takes a little effort to get used to our adobe. We love our old Victorian with it's nooks and crannies, tho. Recently we renovated our ante room for aspiring New Base Campers. We need a few finishing touches, but I think it works relatively well. Well, does it? You are a New Camper looking at it unbiased, so we should like your input, please. Oh, more difficult subjects coming up now in Hexagame .... - deltavee's set is hard enough |

... just in case that BAS should have certain powers .. I sneaked in at that address, and on my way this caught my attention seriously: UserFriendly.org has become a proud Partner of <insert WCG logo here> Yup, it’s true - while you’re laughing at the day's cartoon… …your computer could be solving world problems! Attention UFies! How many computers on your network sit idle? Hate to waste computing power? Want to get busy helping fix humanity’s most pressing issues? Since November 2005 an ever growing team of UFies, led by the intrepid Didactylos, has been contributing their idle computer time to assist the World Community Grid in furthering this important humanitarian research. Not to mention racking up the points and bragging rights – Team UserFriendly.Org is in the Top 25 of over 10,000 Teams! World Community Grid uses grid technology to establish a permanent, flexible infrastructure that provides researchers with a readily available pool of computational power that can be used to solve problems plaguing humanity. Importantly, World Community Grid is easy and safe to use. Please consider joining your fellow UFies in donating your unused computer cycles to this eminently worthwhile project. Along with the warm and fuzzy feelings, you could win a UserFriendly.Org/World Community Grid co-branded t-shirt or mug that you can proudly show off to your co-workers, friends, family and that weird guy down the street with all the cats. Finally, as Team Leader Didactylos is fond of saying, "Please, come and help out. I really can't think of a better use for my spare CPU cycles, or yours either." - I call that some piece of bl**dy good advertising - and we could use that on Facebook, right rcc? Never got arouond to the BAS thing, tho |
