Minimum requirements for HCC?

What are the minimum requirements to run HCC? I have two older pooters that I would like to run it on (if they meet the requirements AND if I can sneaker net them).

Re: Minimum requirements for HCC?

For Help Conquer Cancer, the minimum requirements are:

* At least 250 MB RAM (with virtual memory enabled)
* 200 MB Hard Disk Drive with at least 50 MB available for use
* The ability to display 8-bit graphics at 800x600 resolution
* An Internet connection with minimum 40kpbs speed
* Operating System: Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, or Vista

However: you may be able to get around the Internet requirement, and you may be able to run it with 128 MB RAM if you set your profile to "Maximum Output".

Re: Minimum requirements for HCC?

Did, I've noticed that my two Celeron & Duron computers take two to three times longer than the Pentium & Athlon computers to crunch this project. Given the apparent heavy floating point processor requirement, the techs might want to add the need for a true FPU to this project requirements.

Re: Minimum requirements for HCC?

HCC is very slow on Mendocino Celerons, which I use on BP6 board...nice typeing machine & some browsing...but I trhink I will disable the HCC crunching, 'cause it usually overshoots (not finishes in time!)...

maybe WCG could prolonge the Deadline for the HCC...'cause it's nice for the slower machines with low RAM...but takes time to finishes...

biggrin Re: Minimum requirements for HCC?

What I notice is anything pc100 or less than ~1ghz should move to DDDT. All multi-core machines to FAAH or HPF project. All the rest run HCC. In any case HCC should not be hyperthreaded.

It helps get rid of the slows.
