I have uninstalled and re-installed BOINC and it didn't remedy the problems I'm having. Basically, the results according to my stats aren't being returned and I'd like to know why. I did give the program permission to access the internet so it's not my firewall. Any advice? No results have gotten sent back in over a month.

Sorry to hear that A_D The CA's will need some addition information to assist you. Please give them you PC's spec's and the version of BOINC you are using. I you open the advanced view of BOINC and click on the messages tab, then copy and paste the messages that occur during and after a WU completes, that will help them a lot. Thanks! ![]() ![]() |

That's pretty much all we needed.
----------------------------------------1. Suggest to upgrade to latest WCG 5.10.22 (front page download link) or obtain the Berkeley newly recommended 5.10.28. 2. Do abort that overdue job.... simply do a project reset by visiting the Project Tab in the BOINC manager, selecting WCG and hitting the project reset button in left margin. Possibly that will already set the work fetch wheels in motion. 3. You need to increase your virtual memory in the system control panel to a minimum of say 1.5gb swap file, expandable to 3mb or higher. With that low RAM of only 223mb the servers might otherwise not give you any new jobs. Your harddisk is big enough to afford a bigger Virtual Memory. 4. Make sureto choose 'all project' in the My Grid > My Projects page and deselect AC@H. This will allow testing to see if any work will come to your computer. Question: Is the device registered under the same name you are posting now? It's a frequent cause of not seeing the points. ttyl

30/10/2007 21:27:00||Memory: 223.48 MB physical, 748.70 MB virtual Virtual/windows swap space may be a little tight, causing things to thrash more than needed. In other threads, we have noticed that computers with 256Mb of memory or less may need to reset it to at least 1.5Gb to 2.0 Gb (a very large multiple of memory) to get it going. 30/10/2007 21:27:01|World Community Grid|Task dddt0101a0184_ZINC05455683-0000_02_0 is 6.23 days overdue. This one should probably be aborted since it is so old. It is taking a very long time to complete a workunit. Is your computer only running an hour or two per day? Windows98 is subject to memory leaks after awhile that also cause workunits to run a lot longer than usual. If the computer hasn't been rebooted in over a week, it is time to do that. (If you turn it off every day, this is not the problem.) Consider switching your BOINC project to Dengue Fever. These workunits are currently a lot shorter than the other projects, and very small computers will have a better chance of running more than one per week. I will be out of town for a few days. If the problem persists, please post another message and someone else will see it.

Yes, I use the same handle here as I do for running WCG. Should I change that? I'll retry the downloading the new client and if it doesn't work I'll be back. thanks for your advice so far.

What? What? The handle should be ok as is. I have run both UD and BOINC on different computers, making sure that everything was attached to the same membername when registering. My forum member handle is also the same. Don't make things more confusing.
----------------------------------------I am also attached to nearly 50 different BOINC projects, also with the same handle. You have had some results, just none in October. It could take a few days to validate BOINC results because 2 others need to run the same workunit. They shouldn't be this far out of date, though. It is also possible to look at your device manager to see whether anything out there is either pending or an error result. I've downloaded the new BOINC client so I'll see how it all goes. Thanks for the help, folks!
I'll give it a while and if it's still not doing what it should, I'll be back again for advice. |

Hello Apocalyptic_Dogess,
I think that we have skipped the basics and started giving you advanced advice. About the first thing to check is My Grid - Results Status. The Results Status page is explained here in Start Here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=6105 After looking at the page, try clicking on a work unit name to drill down and see how the other copies of that work unit are coming along. For what it's worth the modified date in this line from the post above looks odd:
