I'm running BOINC under Windows Vista on an Intel dual core machine as well as on a number of single core machines. On the single core machines, BOINC processes the jobs starting with the job with soonest due date, but on the dual core machine I am seeing BOINC consistently starting later work first. For example, this morning, it had about 4 work units due Oct 31 and multiple work units due Nov 2. The machine was working on one of the 4 Oct 31 work units and one of the Nov 2 work units. Is this a BOINC issue or something to do with the WGC work units. If all goes well, it does not impact getting the work units completed on time, but I've seen situations where I leave the dual core laptop off for a while and then it is racing to get the work units crunched before their deadline.
Please let me know if you need more data to help diagnose this issue. |

No, it's perfectly fine. In principle BOINC works off tasks chronologically as received *Unless* there is a threat for any given job to overrun the deadline. You are probably running a mix of all projects on WCG, where the HPF2 jobs have 11 days and the others 9.
----------------------------------------To reduce chance of racing after a period off, cut down the connect time or additional buffer, so less work is risked to run late.
