When running the grid I am using less then 25% of my processor power. I would like to see that raised to 100% when I am not using the PC so that I can contribute as much as possible. I have been a member in Seti for many years and there, not only would it use 100% and yet reliquish the processor back to me when I wanted to use the PC but I could also multiple instances (4 instances for me) at one time. Further, I had 20 chunks of data on my PC wanting to be processed at all times. This way when my Internet conection was down I was able to continue processing until it was back up. This allowed me to process for one and a half days after a storm with no Internet conection and when the connection was repaired all 20 were returned and 20 more were downloaded. Just a thought to increase work returned.

When running the grid I am using less then 25% of my processor power. I would like to see that raised to 100% when I am not using the PC so that I can contribute as much as possible. This is the default setting. By deafault the agent uses a program called WCGrid_Rosetta.exe to do the crunching. This is set to idle priority within Windows which means that it should only crunch when your machine is idle. Are you still running the SETI agent as well ? From what I understand, the SETI agent is configured to run at a higher priority than WCG, therefore you will see a reduction in the CPU cycles which can be used. If you are not running SETI, have a look in Task Manager (or better Process Explorer from Sysinternals (free) from here) and see what process(es) are using the CPU. You then need to decide if this process is actually needed. Further, I had 20 chunks of data on my PC wanting to be processed at all times. Just a thought to increase work returned. There is a utility called udmon that allows you to download more than one WU. Have a look at this thread |

Dusty,
I am guessing that you are talking about multi-processing. That is not allowed by the current Agent. We do intend to write a new Agent (Linux first) but it will be a while before we can start promising any new features. Lawrence |
