I'm trying out 5.10.23 for x64 and it can upload and report completed work units but can't connect to WCG to download new ones. Here's the message log:

I'm running a standard home network, no proxy or anything. Any ideas? My other machines are downloading new work just fine so I know it's not a problem on WCG's end. 5.10.20 worked fine as far as communications go but I was getting random crashes so I thought I'd try this version. |

I ended up having to reset the project. Something got messed up during the upgrade but it seems to be working now.

go back on 5.10.20
----------------------------------------and work on 50% throttle or less per core...try it for a while! see if that will work without crashing? ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by KLiK at Oct 17, 2007 10:04:08 PM] |

5.10.20 had a known (but undiagnosed) crash problem. This was corrected in the next version.
The problem may or may not return in 5.10.23, so feedback on that point will be useful. |

Yes, I was getting strange crashes across all my machines with 5.10.20 x64. The OS was unaffected and the BOINC icon was still in the task bar, but all the tabs in the manager were blank and no work was being performed. A restart of BOINC manager would fix it until the next crash.
I've installed 5.10.23 on 2 machines. I'll let them run for a week or so and see how it goes. |

Same as in 5.10.22, the 5.10.23 beta install overwrites or erases the cc_config.xml, thus ensure to make a backup of that file if you are setting extra manual configuration options and message flag controls like the <checkpoint_debug>. Maybe it got fixed in 5.10.24 beta just out for Windows(?)
