Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

Book of John con't love struck

Joh 16:1 Jesus continued, "I have said these things to you so that you won't lose your faith.
Joh 16:2 You will be thrown out of synagogues. Certainly, the time is coming when people who murder you will think that they are serving God.
Joh 16:3 They will do these things to you because they haven't known the Father or me.
Joh 16:4 But I've told you this so that when it happens you'll remember what I've told you. I didn't tell you this at first, because I was with you.
Joh 16:5 "Now I'm going to the one who sent me. Yet, none of you asks me where I'm going.
Joh 16:6 But because I've told you this, you're filled with sadness.
Joh 16:7 However, I am telling you the truth: It's good for you that I'm going away. If I don't go away, the helper won't come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
Joh 16:8 He will come to convict the world of sin, to show the world what has God's approval, and to convince the world that God judges it.
Joh 16:9 He will convict the world of sin, because people don't believe in me.
Joh 16:10 He will show the world what has God's approval, because I'm going to the Father and you won't see me anymore.
Joh 16:11 He will convince the world that God judges it, because the ruler of this world has been judged.
Joh 16:12 "I have a lot more to tell you, but that would be too much for you now.
Joh 16:13 When the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into the full truth. He won't speak on his own. He will speak what he hears and will tell you about things to come.
Joh 16:14 He will give me glory, because he will tell you what I say.
Joh 16:15 Everything the Father says is also what I say. That is why I said, 'He will take what I say and tell it to you.'
Joh 16:16 "In a little while you won't see me anymore. Then in a little while you will see me again."
Joh 16:17 Some of his disciples said to each other, "What does he mean? He tells us that in a little while we won't see him. Then he tells us that in a little while we will see him again and that he's going to the Father."
Joh 16:18 So they were asking each other, "What does he mean when he says, 'In a little while'? We don't understand what he's talking about."
Joh 16:19 Jesus knew they wanted to ask him something. So he said to them, "Are you trying to figure out among yourselves what I meant when I said, 'In a little while you won't see me, and in a little while you will see me again'?
Joh 16:20 I can guarantee this truth: You will cry because you are sad, but the world will be happy. You will feel pain, but your pain will turn to happiness.
Joh 16:21 A woman has pain when her time to give birth comes. But after the child is born, she doesn't remember the pain anymore because she's happy that a child has been brought into the world.
Joh 16:22 "Now you're in a painful situation. But I will see you again. Then you will be happy, and no one will take that happiness away from you.
Joh 16:23 When that day comes, you won't ask me any more questions. I can guarantee this truth: If you ask the Father for anything in my name, he will give it to you.
Joh 16:24 So far you haven't asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive so that you can be completely happy.
Joh 16:25 "I have used examples to illustrate these things. The time is coming when I won't use examples to speak to you. Rather, I will speak to you about the Father in plain words.
Joh 16:26 When that day comes, you will ask for what you want in my name. I'm telling you that I won't have to ask the Father for you.
Joh 16:27 The Father loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.
Joh 16:28 I left the Father and came into the world. Again, as I've said, I'm going to leave the world and go back to the Father."
Joh 16:29 His disciples said, "Now you're talking in plain words and not using examples.
Joh 16:30 Now we know that you know everything. You don't need to wait for questions to be asked. Because of this, we believe that you have come from God."
Joh 16:31 Jesus replied to them, "Now you believe.
Joh 16:32 The time is coming, and is already here, when all of you will be scattered. Each of you will go your own way and leave me all alone. Yet, I'm not all alone, because the Father is with me.
Joh 16:33 I've told you this so that my peace will be with you. In the world you'll have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world."

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

Awesome song by Matt Redmon

rose

You Never Let Go

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I'm caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won't turn back, I know You are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We'll live to know You here on the earth

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

Wind Beneath My Wings

It must've been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight on your face
You've being content to let me shine
You always walked a step behind.

And I was the one with all the glory
You were the one with all the strain
Only a face without a name
I never once heard you complain.

Chorus:
Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings.

It might have appeared to go unnoticed
But I've got it all here in my heart
I want you to know I know the truth
I would be nothing without you

Chorus:
Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings...

Isaiah

40:28 Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is an eternal God,
the creator of the whole earth.
He does not get tired or weary;
there is no limit to his wisdom.

40:29 He gives strength to those who are tired;
to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy.

40:30 Even youths get tired and weary;
even strong young men clumsily stumble.

40:31 But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength;
they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings,
they run without growing weary,
they walk without getting tired.

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

TODAY'S INSIGHT

Above All We Ask Or Think

He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope (Ephesians 3:10, NLT).

Dear friends:

When Carol and her two children left on their long trip to California, some friends from her church gave her a cooler filled with lunches to take along. She did not have time to look into the box until they stopped at a picnic area to eat.

To her amazement, she found a pretty red-and-white, checkered disposable tablecloth, plastic spoons and forks, and her children's favorite fruit drinks. In addition, the box contained caramel rolls and juice for breakfast, bite-sized candy bars for snacks, and even a sharp knife to slice the salami.

The children squealed over travel games and paperback books also found in the box. Then they dug to the bottom of the cooler to find other treasures nestled in it for them. Last of all, Carol found a note written to encourage her as she drove.

A sense of warmth flooded over her. The faces of those lovely women came into her mind as she thanked God for them before she and the children ate.

This was nothing less than the love of God being manifested to Carol through her friends. The thoughtfulness of others is just one of the many ways that God shows His love to us.

The story is told of a modern prodigal son who had quarreled with his parents and had left home in anger. After leading a life of partying, illicit sex and drugs, he finally boarded a train for home.

As the train neared his home, the young man related to the passenger next to him that he had written a letter to his parents, asking their forgiveness and begging them to take him back. If they wanted him to return, they were to tie a white rag to the old elm tree in the front yard.

"I can't look," he said to his seat partner. "You look for me. I'm afraid there will be no rag on the tree."

As they rounded the bend, his neighbor peered out the window and exclaimed, "Look! There's not just one rag, there are hundreds! Every branch is covered!"

This is a wonderful illustration of God's inexhaustible, unconditional love. Both the above cases remind me of Romans 8:38, "I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love" (NLT), and Ephesians 3:20, expressed in the classic words of the King James Version: "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."

That exceeding, abundant love and power were working through Carol's friends and the young man's parents.

Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission each year until our Lord returns,

Bill Bright
