Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

Thanks for the warm welcome Diana G! I've got an Intel Q6600 desktop (2.4Ghz quad) and a Dualcore 1.8Ghz laptop. They should be running full speed every night. Looking forward to contributing!

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

Congrats lighthouse!!! 2,000,000 points is a LOT.

Regarding Vista or XP/Pro - I'd go with XP. Sure Vista looks better but it takes a lot more resources. Game benchmarks on Vista vs XP show XP is a bit faster. XP SP3 should prove even faster than SP2. So if you can stand going without the eye candy (Vista) I'd get XP.

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

I'm looking into a new high-end computer. One question: Vista or XP/Pro?

XP. As an IT guy, I've had to work on a lot of Vista problems in the past year. M$, according to an article at InformationWeek, has all but ditched Vista. They are pouring resources into their next version of Windows due to come out in 2010 (so that means 2011 or 12).

Congrats on the milestone!

And welcome to BigMcGuire and MobileTurionX2!

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

My day started badly today I was supposed to be on the road by 4am so I could be half way up the country at a training course by 9am.

I woke up at 6am and my alarm clock was switched off (I don't recall doing this) any way at 6am my day is already a right off.

So to make the best of it I email myself at work some important documents I have been working on which hopefully will result in a long term contract both for the suppliers and me.

I get to work make all my apologies and log in - no emails!

Work is firewalled so the great logmein doesn't work.

I have to go home again and my commute is 65 Miles to send those emails again.

On the way back to work for the second time that day I'm really not a happy bunny (We've all been there)

As I'm driving along in my grump there's this estate car (Station wagon) in front of me - white, well it would be if it wasn't covered in the rocksalt grime we have at this time of the year. Someone had written words in the grime with their finger. Normally they say ironically "Please Clean Me" which on days like today would be a good prayer to pray but today it said...

SMILE, Jesus loves you .

How great is that?

Thank you Jesus for making my day a great one.

Dave

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

Team, what a blessed day this is! I emailed Phil at stats.free-dc today to ask about a possible 'expansion update' for our team stats to be expanded from 250 to cover our whole team (which at the moment is 369 members). He expanded it to 408 so now EVERY member is listed!!!!! (this stats website is different than BOINC. This site gives us our WCG points)

Check stats here:

http://stats.free-dc.org/new/teamstats.php?proj=wcg&team=Christians&x=0

this updates later than our last update here and if your new, you will have to go page to page to find yourself. Sooner than you think, you will be moving on upwards!!

Any questions about "how to", just ask biggrin

Praise God for the increase in every area of Team Christians!

Thank you Phil for updating the Christians stats page for us! Your website keeps us drooling because were stats addicts LoL

Keep 'em crunching!

(((HUGS TEAM)))

Re: Christians are giving...come give with us!

Well, it seems that M$ was able to "force" me to buy Vista, rather than XP/Pro. I found an HP system that had most of the features that I wanted at a price that was low enough that I could add my "extras" and still come out below the price of a "custom" system. sigh...

It sounds like I have something similar to BigMcGuire - an Intel Quad-core Q6600. I'm burning it in with WCG, so my points will spike shortly. Hey, if it's got a flaw, I say cook it out while it is still under warranty. cool

I just hope that most of my software will install on Vista - or the savings for the bargain computer will just flush down the toilet.
