Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

Here's a brief quote from a post by knreed made on April 1. Says it all why you should convert Now:
"BOINC is able to complete almost three times ...' as the UD platform. This is critical because World Community Grid exists to get research done."

34 days till the last UD job is send out and 74 days that that database is send to the software graveyard.

Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

17 days till the last UD agent job is send out and provisionally 47 days till the server is locked up to receive completed work. We continue to hover right before the 94% mark in for the points: Just 6% are unmoving. Imagine that that 6% is worth 18% under BOINC.... 3 times the science value ....

Why have you not converted yet or tried the software to see what it does. Get it here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadAgain.do

Thank you for your prompt attention.

Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

I think that everybody who reads your message already has BOINC...
I installed UD on a computer a long time ago on a friend's computer, i don't see him much, and he gets from time to times some results back on his UD agent... I wont go and ask him to put Boinc... he doesn't seem to be much concerned about that...
the people like that must be the 6% left.

Sek, can you find out, if these 6% are all seperate users, or if they are just "unattended mashines" from people, who migrated their main pc's to Boinc...? thinking

Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

We know that 15% are "double agent" crunchers who e.g. play the low throttle double points game. I run 1 at 25% on 1 core just to stay in touch if work flows for those on that agent, AND have that safety if the GPFS goes south again. I am, looking at the numbers, the last on my big team and big teams are not the issue, except maybe Easynews who crunch for bandwidth credits on the side. For that WCG has put an extra key in place, so they can continue getting credit based on run time. WCG has addressed the partners, but that is entirely out of the public view.

So it's going to be a crunch in the last few weeks and days when the exclamation mark starts appearing and persists when work stops being received at around June 1, so is the plan.

Keep hearing the name 'Ferris Bueller'.... always posponing the inevitable: Why are YOU not on BOINC yet with only 8 days to go before the last UD agent job is planned to go out? Tripple your effective user contribution! Fear? Ask and we'll help you along after reading WCG Global & Research > Make Proposal Help: Start Here!

shock Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

What is of interest is that I just heard that IBM internal users represents half of the remaining UD crunchers. They get an automated push out conversion in June. Obviously WCG could not do that to the public side of the membership,

And those who don't will get instead of project graphics a text message graphic in their agent and suppose that will show in the screensaver too?

so HANDS ON, ALL ABOARD, GO GET BOINC'ed NOW!

cheers

Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

Is it the last day today to get a UD agent job? Fired up one just to see that notification replacing the graphics to see it's done and dusted, on the member side. Still lots of work on the tech side to gut the old out, convert their own internal crunchers, which are apparently still a bunch and push out the BOINC installations.... standing by on the 3 hours and holding pattern ;>)
