Hi, I've installed the agent on a compaq dual xeon server (2x2.8 ghz).
The software shows a CPU power equal to 100 like a standar intel 4 based PC. how can be possible? My storage system is a RAID 5 500gb but the software shows 0.98..... What can I do? thx best regards heze54 |

Hi heze54,
The basic explanation for processor score is given at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/join_now/points_system.html but there is a lot more discussion. I cannot find one of the threads where people give it a really thorough thrashing out, but look at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1364 Several points. First, your initial processor score is always low. I think it is calculated while the installation process is still running. Each later result will give a new score. If nothing is running in the foreground, it will be much higher. ( I forget the game that one member was playing when his Agent gave him a Processor Score of 1 !! [Big Grin] But it all averages out over time. ) The Agent cannot multi-process (yet) so you will be scored for just one cpu. The default device profile uses 1 GB storage space. Because of roundoff variations between Agent and server, this is also 0.98 GB and you can expect that the points awarded for a result will often be different by 1 between the Agent and the server. Except for that difference, the points on your Agent are always up to date, awarded when the server acknowledges receipt of the result. The server computes totals once a day at midnight in Greenwich / London, so they can be different during the day. Finally, the actual storage used by the current Human Proteome Folding Project fits comfortably within 50 MB. The storage in the points system is really an authorization rather than an allocation. You authorize the World Community Grid to use up to ??? GB of storage if some project needs it. Currently the maximum storage is 10 GB, the default value authorized at installation is 1 (0.98) GB.
