UD to Boinc migration info

In the website page announcing the move from UD to Boinc
World Community Grid begins the move to BOINC
is it normal that the link "here" in "the BOINC agent for Windows can be found here." at the end contains the parameter newMember= true, thus
- forbidding the facility to recognise the member as already existing
- producing confusing text as for a new member?

Re: UD to Boinc migration info

Tried it yesterday - while signed in - via the front page download link and just now the link from "Migration" page. Tried a number of thinkable scenarios and can only conclude that the page is intended for Migrators and not "New - Still to Register - Members".

Assuming you have concern over existing members who are on UD and (New), as in (Relatively Fresh), the arrival message is different changing with newMember=false to 'Welcome Back'. With True it says 'Okay, You Are Registered', which I'd expect for most to shrug off or not even notice and will "home-in" on the pre-highlight BOINC for Windows button.

The link for an actual New Member, not yet registered, just causes it to fail telling that one needs to register first.

Sorry, but Abbott & Costello's or is it Laurel & Hardy's will always arrive, but if you tell us what you think is confusing, the web-developer can think about it.

At any rate, however I twisted the attempts, at all times an "existing" member was recognised and got to the download page with a different Hallo.

cheers

Re: UD to Boinc migration info

OK, fine.
What I found possibly confusing is that I expected the "Welcome back" case and I got the "You are registered" instead, making me wonder if it was trying to register me again. smile
Now that I have received the Newsletter I have run a new test after logging off everything from the web and starting from the newsletter under Thunderbird. The presentation of the Logon screen made it clear that it expected me to be already registered.

The sad point is that the newsletter and the web page on Boinc migration are in English and I am not sure that all my "fire and forget" team mates will make the effort to see what it is about. sad
The good point is that, if they do, they will finally get the download page in French. smile

Cheers. Jean.
