OpenBSD ??

Hi guys! I just discovered your grid and I think it's a really cool idea!
Unfortunalty I can share only my OpenBSD little server, that is most of the time doing nothing. If there's any port to OpenBSD I would be very happy to help.
I saw that there's a beta test going for FreeBSD... I hope there's one for OpenBSD too.
Let me know :)

Thank You all.

Alberto

Re: OpenBSD ??

Hi, tdfs84
You need to install Boinc on your OpenBSD.
the severs only send programms to linux or freebsd computers. So you have to change you're makefile when compiling:
add this:

--with-boinc-platform=i686-pc-linux-gnu

after

CONFIGURE_ARGS=--disable-server

See this thread for more information:
freebsd = succes

Another option is too ask the technicians to add openbsd as a legal platform.

The only way it works is when you enable linux emulation. The servers send you an linux application to you're computer. That application will run in emulation.

Re: OpenBSD ??

Hi,

There was a very brief test to see if the Linux work-units would work on Free BSD if that client identified itself properly 98 clients so far hooked up, but have problems with the HPF2 work units.

Don't know about Open BSD. We can ask.... the techs are though very busy to answer this by return.

Re: OpenBSD ??

Hi guys!
Since my OpenBSD is running boinc I'm very happy. I wrote a little howto for anybody who wants to run it on OpenBSD platform.
The little howto is here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16481

I hope it will be helpfull.
For any question... just mail me.

Best regards,

TDFS

You need to follow the advice earlier in the thread.

Re: OpenBSD ??

I use the binary client from this page : http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/BOINC%20Clients.html

Do you mean I have to compil the client ?

Re: OpenBSD ??

In short, yes.

If there are any further issues, we will be able to address them once you are past this first hurdle.
