Re: No work being done

Not sure, but think I saw the identical messages 'no work .....' in a post a few days ago, so have a look. The "Message from server: (reached daily quota of 0 results)" implies this machine has a problem. Visiting the Result Status page would identify if it is due frequent work with errors/invalid. In that case the required 12 hours needs to be waited before the server will release new work.

Was this ueberhaupt a functioning client?

Added: Link to the thread with the identical sequence of 'no work....' except the quota was 15, likely because a hardware problem developed. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16221#127436

Re: No work being done

Hello nathanll,
Memory: 223.48 MB physical
This is very little memory. Your friend should make sure that he is allowing 100% of everything in his preferences since the minimum requirements are 250 MB. But BOINC will run FAAH on smaller computers. I do not know what the real minimum is.

Re: No work being done

You might be onto something Lawrence. The client/server interaction going thru the paces of checking for each science if suitable work is there. Both the RAM and VM are below requirement. Setting a Virtual Memory to say 1gb might provide the tilt needed i.e. a combined > 850mb requirement. All three projects with continuous work have the same requirement:

# At least 250 MB RAM (with virtual memory enabled)
# 600 MB Hard Disk Drive with at least 50 MB available for use

It's a pity the message is not more precise but to say quota 0. A state of sufficient memory must have existed, but if memory during crunching gets to tight it should not error out, rather a 'waiting for memory' should occur. It may thus be a combo of several problems.

Re: No work being done

I don't understand the zero quota message. That's not supposed to happen.

This reminds me to ask Kevin and the BOINC developers to review the whole "no work" set of messages, because in combination they don't always make sense, and they could be a lot more informative.

Re: No work being done

Look at the date in the message. Maybe that is your problem.

edit: Or are you set up with dd/mm/yyyy ???? If so, then ignore this post.
