I guess the first thing is to check the BOINC Manager Advance tab. Look over Preferences because something is strange on your system.
Make sure your clock is set correctly. Lawrence |

Something is strange yes, but I don't know what.
What do you suggest I looked for in the preferences tab ? I've only changed the additional work buffer to 1,5 but I also tried to reset the local preferences and let my preferences of WGC but it's the same result. The clock on my windows vista is set at the good time and date. |

Next step: reboot and copy the Messages tab and post it, then switch to the Tasks tab and report the deadline and estimated run time. We need to figure out why you are running in Panic mode.

Wonder if crunching is done with Network Suspended or the Weight assigned to one or the other project is insufficient? For instance, pulled a Work Unit of Project X that is due on October 1. The project allocation is 2% and estimated time to complete is 10 hours. 2% of 2 days is not enough, so got it to show high priority. If any condition exists for BOINC to think it's not going to make it, it will switch to Earliest Deadline First and if multiple tasks of the same project like at WCG, it will even try to do the shorter before the longer in order to get as many done as possible.
----------------------------------------Now the crux: Switched from Work According Preferences to Working Always, and panic was over in minutes.

I'm only working for WCG with BOINC and in my WCG preferences I put the maximum profiles since always. |

Hello Sekaiji,
----------------------------------------My own copy of BOINC 5.10 says: 9/27/2007 6:48:39 PM|World Community Grid|URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID: 32229; location: home; project prefs: home 9/27/2007 6:48:41 PM||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 2007-06-23 21:17:56) 9/27/2007 6:48:41 PM||Host location: home 9/27/2007 6:48:41 PM||General prefs: using separate prefs for home 9/27/2007 6:48:41 PM||Reading preferences override file When I first started using BOINC 5.10.7 I had to create a local preferences file (called a preferences override file using Advanced . . . Preferences ) in order to get things to work the way I wanted them to do. Apparently the web site preferences needed to be changed to work with 5.10. There have been many changes since 5.10.7 so that may not be necessary any more. I suggest you create a local preferences file just in case it still is necessary. Thanks, but if you read the entire post, you'll see that I used a preferences files before with the value 0.2 for days, and 1.5 for additional work buffer.
----------------------------------------The two past week I used a preference local file that overided the preferences from WCG. Any other suggestion ? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Sekaiji at Sep 30, 2007 6:20:07 PM] |

Puzzled.
----------------------------------------- If you open the BOINCmgr and look in the Activity menu, what does it say for the network setting.... Always Available, Per Schedule, or Network Suspended? - Does it get new work automatically after sitting around for minutes, or are you hitting the Update button in the Projects Tab to get things moving? - Can you visit the BOINC program directory and copy / paste the content of the following files and post here: global_prefs.xml global_prefs_override.xml - After, open the client_state.xml and find the section below sampled and copy / paste from yours into a post. <time_stats> <on_frac>0.828905</on_frac> <connected_frac>-1.000000</connected_frac> <active_frac>0.905629</active_frac> <cpu_efficiency>0.829163</cpu_efficiency> <last_update>1192289665.125000</last_update> </time_stats> These should give us some better understanding of all your settings effecting operation.
