Holocaust Day

As we are all here to try to help humanity in one form, I think that we should all take a minute out from whatever we are doing today and think about all those people that died during the Holocaust.

This scale of inhumanity should never be forgotten.

Re: Holocaust Day

And against mathematical certainty, hope that it will never happen again.

Re: Holocaust Day

Yeah... hence "mathematical certainty". It is a reality that it still happens, and will continue to happen.

Thue... Sadly but thue. But not anyway near the size, organisation and unhuman business-like aproach of the holocaust.

Re: Holocaust Day

Frans,

It may not be happening on the same scale in one country. However, if you take the places it has happened (Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Cote de Ivoire, East Timor, Congo) etc, it would appear that the world has not learnt the lesson.

There have been statements today saying that we should never let it happen again but it is and the governments of the world let some of it go past when it suits them.

Re: Holocaust Day

I think we should all focus on facts, not "heard of stories" and confessions let loose under torture.

The Red Cross (yes I am talking about that HUGE organisation) says only about 400.000 Jewish people where killed. It's just one of those things the media doesn't want you to hear.

Still, my thoughts go out to all the survivors and their family, and yes, I did hold a minute of silence today.

edit: Just to note, I am 1/2 Jewish, so don't go call me anti-semetic , k?

I fully agee with you, sofar we stopped it ( a bit ) in Iraq... sad

Killing people is unfortuate a accepted trade .... governments of the world employ them and they are called army's. The US, UK and the Netherlands have profesional Army's now ... like the Germans in the period before WW2. These "profesionals" can easally transver from a killing machine to a murdering machine under the wrong management. The Netherlands used to have a "drafted" army whereby a transition to a murdering machine is less likely to happen.

It is a rotten world ... sometimes, but it is the only one we've got, luckely there are still a lot of people with a good common sense like you, Graham and even Hairy4paws who could be able to prevent it happening in our own counties/continents by asking questions. For us it is easy to speek-up, we got the freedom of mind, press and speech by law..... how about the counties you recalled..... sad sad sad sad sad

The word community has still a long way to go .....
Your friend
