I have just upgraded two macines to AMD X2 CPUs so I installed BOINC to take advantage of the 2 CPUs. I decided to convert my 5 other machines to BOINC. 4 converted with no problems but one of the machines is getting this error on every result.
----------------------------------------Result Log <core_client_version>5.8.15</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005) </message> <stderr_txt> Failed to get VersionInfo size: 2 I converted the machine back to UD and it is working fine. The machine that only gets errors on every result on BOINC is am AMD XP 3200 running Windows 2000 Pro. I have other machines runinng Win 2K with no problems. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hello mclaver,
Searching for 1073741819, I found a lot of members that have gotten this Windows Access Violation error message. Here is a (unhelpful) post about it - http://boincfaq.mundayweb.com/index.php?language=1&view=98 Possibilities range from system drivers to .... to bad RAM. Lawrence |

I actually saw that and I tested the RAM with RATEST86 and it checks out ok. Also, I have been using the UD agent for almost two years with no problems and after repeated failures with the BOINC agent an converted back to the UD agent and it is running fine. Is there any known specific issues with the BOINC agent that would cause it not to work and get this error, when the US agent works with no problems.

The most frequent reason for this error is graphics-related. You could try running BOINC without using the graphics window or viewing the screensaver. That would narrow down the problem, at least.
Also, you could try running all the different projects at WCG, and see if they are all affected the same way. I'm sorry there is no simple answer to this problem. It's little consolation, but the problem you have is very rare. |
