Hi everybody,
Just wanted to introduce ourselves. We are The Greenies, a happy international bunch (4 continents) who got together over in BBC CCE and have moved to CPDN and are now branching out to other DC projects in the BOINC range. We were the original Team Greenpeace in BBC CCE but had to form our own team in CPDN as the Greenpeace Team over there is (not only) inactive but also includes Greenpeace "groupies"..and our team comprising of many vocal , intelligent and principaled ladies would not go along with that:0 I've had some problems being one of the most "untechy " on the team, but we have great techy backup in the team and from team friends. ( I'm good on gifs:) ...) We all find WCG a great project and hope we can donate some of our (PC) time and (mental) effort to the project. We all have very differing interests.. I'm cetacean crazy, Logpile is into trees and bees, the others all have varied interests but they are a great group. SOOOOO..if anybody is looking for a team to park in .. think about THE GREENIES!!! All the best Chrissy ![]() "she's not a fluke!!" |

Hi viewed the thread, not quite the discussions I am normally into..
where did it/they come from where are they going. However early on this year on the Science Hypography forums we were in deep discussion over "Why kill whales" when a Norwegian participant came up with the comment ( I sincerely belive tongue in cheek..if not )the reason whales should be hunted is beacuse they went from land to sea and the next development would be sea to air and ,,could you imagine all those huge creatures flying around....!!! Beggers belief. Afraid I'm more hands on. Realise the whales "saved " Japan in terms of food in WW2, but it's now time to stop. Whalemeat stocks are huge and even the govts campaign to bring whalemeat into school lunches ( to use up stockpiles) is failing as even the Japanese health authorities question the level of contamination in whalemeat ( poor guys). Norway has ended under quota( thank goodness) 'cos there is no interest in whalemeat. Recently Sea Shepherds sunk one of their whaling vessels in harbour ( no one on board) good ..they don't "need" it anyway. Iceland has called a halt to commercial whale hunting recently due to lack of interest. One would think the message might be seeping through. Yet the Japanese plan in November to hunt in the Sanctuary ( ILLEGAL) and "take " 50 endangered humpbacks ( if you could see my real avater it's a real humpback fluke) for "scientific" research. I can post links if anyone wants but didn't want to overload this post. In CPDN I have a thread entitled " Cetaceans" which I keep updated. And..I haven't even mentioned the hideous Japanese dolphin drives yet ( flensed alive...). These intelligent, gentle, family orientated and hugely sentient guys deserve better. By the way the little whale under my name is Poppet..she goes everywhere with me, she' not my avatar but my forum conscience:) Chrissy ![]() "She goes on but she means it" |

d'aider les animeaux!! Yes the Yangtze Dolphin is a sad case, recently they have (re) found one but without a few others it's curtains. The cousin ( amazon dolphin ) therefore needs our special attention. Goodnight Chrisy & ![]() Poppet..me!!!! |
