No prbs Akela.............My gob is big enough for both our feet. You're right about milestones though. It would be nice to see him reach his 1st. birthday on the 30th August.

Here's a link to a fact sheet about SMA (Type1)
http://www.jtsma.org.uk/sma1.html Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a condition that affects the nerves in an area of the spinal cord called the anterior horn. These nerve cells become damaged, breaking the link between the brain and the muscles. As a result, the muscles can't be used and become wasted or atrophied. |

Wow that opened my eyes, thanks for the link GM, now it's even more important to see or in my case read about Toby's little milestones. What a special little guy he is. |

I don't get around here too much anymore, lately. I still stop in occasionally to see how some people are doing.... I always read here to see how little Toby is doing. I also just read the fact sheet about SMA (Type 1) to better understand. I just want you to know I will be praying that Toby reaches his first birthday in August, and in fact, praying for many many days after his first birthday.... *hugs & kisses* for Toby. |

Toby has got mucus balls (no, don't laugh!)
They can block his airway. When you or I get them we can cough, but Toby can't. He went to hospital today for a routine check, and whilst they were weighing him he suddenly turned blue. A mucus ball had blocked his airway. He was very quickly put on oxygen, and Mum gave him some physio (Beat the cr@p out fof him) and it got shifted. He's staying in overnight so they can keep an eye on him. He has got oxygen at home, and he's on a stats monitor 24/7, and Mum knows who suction him and do all the stuff. It's a bit of a to do when he goes out as all this stuff has to go with him. Last Saturday he was in hospital again, but he managed to escape and go with his mum and dad to a 21st. birthday party about 60 miles away. The hospital gave him a note just in case they had to call an ambulance out to take him to the nearest hospital, but they didn't need it, and he was fine. He is supposed to be getting a special chair so that he can sit up and have his head supported. |
