Problem
----------------------------------------If you create a message and preview it, before posting it and it's appearance seems to look distorted, it will trash your thread by offsetting that message and all the following messages posted after it Solution Highlight the contents of the message box Use Edit/Copy to copy the contents to the clipboard Just back out to the main menu and start again Use Edit/Paste to replace the contents and preview it again If it looks Ok hit Post New Thread If you have already posted it, and it is offset Click on the Edit post Icon, this is the little picture of the pencil and paper in the top left corner of your message Use Edit/Copy to copy the contents to the clipboard so you can just repaste it instead of typing it all over again Now you can delete it and start again as long as no one has posted a reply to your personal message I hope you find this useful I have isolated the problem If you do not close your quotes they will cause the thread to become offset Example {quote} Information {/quote} this is correct Example {quote} Information {/quote this is incorect Even if you miss out the starting {quote} or the trailing {/quote} entirely, you see the problem. Please note I have temporarily substituted this symbol {} for this symbol [ ] as using this symbol [ ] will induce the problem when I post this message Part of this solution supplied by Stuart Tares Regards [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 26, 2005 4:36:45 PM] |

Graham,
I have seen this on simple responses (such as this one). Do we know what is causing the problem ? Is it a CSS/HTML issue ? |

Thanks for the Graham. I can always place a screen shot on my webspace if anyone requires it (although Murphy probably means that it won't happen again! )

Replying to my own post! I must be going crazy.
I have seen another problem with using Firefox against IE. If you look at this image, you will see that the table created is actually bigger than the screen size and I have to scroll to get to the rightmost column. However, if you look at this image, you will see that everything is OK. I am guessing that there is something to do with the CSS which is being loaded because of the browser sniffing that is going on. |

Hi Stuart
Here is a classic symptom of the problem: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1494 There are a number of them dotted around the forums Regards |

Thanks once again for that. For those enlightened people that are not using Firefox, you can see a screenshot of the problem here. The same URL displayed in IE shows correctly.

The same URL displayed in IE shows correctly. Hi Stuart It does not in my IE 6.0 browser I have just viewed it using IE 6.0, Yahoo browser, and Firefox and get the same results, so i dont think it is a browser error I think its an MvnForums software error I have reported it as such Regards [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 25, 2005 6:08:19 PM] |

No problems. I only see the issue in Firefox but that maybe because I use it 99% of the time.
I am more than willing to try things out if it is required. |
