Strange: You would not need to if you change your website device profile to not allow crunching when on battery. BOINC would automatically stop until you plug in the mains again. Go My Grid > Device Manager > Device Profile > Profile of Choice > Custom Settings > Change > Save. After, In the BOINC manager select the project tab, select WCG and hit update button. Done.
----------------------------------------Now how do you suspend BOINC? Thru the Activity Menu? Added: What Machine / OS? / BOINC Version?

There's a snooze function in the icon. Perhaps he means that, but the above function to not allow crunching if on battery is better.
----------------------------------------It is also possible to suspend a project (and other projects may run if available) or suspend a task (and other tasks may run if available)
