Although I have selected the "Do work after idle for: 15 minutes" option numerous times and saved the selection, my BOINC client continues to run while I am working on my computer. When I return to the preferences screen to check my preferences, the "Do work after idle for: 0 (Run Always) minutes" continues to show up. How can I resolve this problem?

I think I should write a FAQ about this. It's a known bug. Please clear your local preferences, and set this option on the web instead, here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/v...iguration.do?name=Default

I have tried setting it, it is set but still runs, where and what is this 'local' pref file, and how are you supposed to clear it?

It's discussed in a thread yesterday/day before and depend on the permutation you run. Think you even posted in there.

I checked that thread...I run 5.8.15 but I still do not know where this button is...and in any case it says it does not work anyway....so what is one supposed to do?

This is what Didi said in the FaQ he has just done-
This is a known bug in BOINC 5.8. Symptoms: You set the preference in the Simple View "Preferences" dialog. BOINC ignores the setting and runs always. Workaround: Clear the local preferences by deselecting the "I want to customize my preferences for this computer only" box. Set your preferences online instead, by changing your default profile. Select "Custom Profile" and make the changes you need. Your agent will get the new settings when it next contacts the server. Problem....I have NEVER used the local prefs and the check box is CLEAR.....it STILL does not used the online prefs...... |

OK I got it so you can remove it...also it will take a few minutes as I have to send the ones from the affected machine, not this so I will have to transfer them.
