I prefer not to abort. My workunit stopped. at 88% rather than wallow in ignorance, i thought i would ask.
Which is better, to abort a bad workunit sooner, or let it expire by date? Does aborting it report back to WCG? Is there a way to flag "bad work units" or is that usually local to the machine rather than the program? (ex: i if mine is bad does that mean the other 2 identical units are also). I dont want to waste any time, |

What exactly do you mean "my work unit stopped at 88%". Did it error out or did it just stop progressing? If the latter happened, you can go to the projects tab, click/highlight WCG, click "suspend", wait 15 seconds and then click "resume". The stuck work unit will resume at the last checkpoint and carry on to completion.
----------------------------------------If the work unit errored out, don't worry about it, it will report itself as such to WCG at the next server contact. Same thing goes if you aborted it manually. It will show up as an error in your results status. A single error is nothing to worry about. It can happen from time to time. But if it becomes a common occurence then it's a good indication that there is a problem with your computer. ![]() |

project tanpaku runs fine always.
WCG stopped at 88.273% and never resumed. I dont know why but: suspending other projects does not make it continue working. It simply never works now. The file stopped. (note i use Ubuntu boinc on this machine because i need to ween myself away from mircosoft, proprietary formats, DRM, and other control oriented DEPENDENT TECHNOLOGIES.) is Linux is a prob this should be noted. |

Hello Shinobi Gaiden,
Which is better, to abort a bad workunit sooner, or let it expire by date? Does aborting it report back to WCG? Go ahead and abort the work unit. If nobody can run it, knreed (or some other staff member) will be notified by the server. HPF2 has a known bug that we have not been able to locate. Which project was your work unit from? Lawrence |

Before totally giving up on WCG, try FAAH or DDD-T in the my grid/my projects. These other projects here are not as resource intensive as HPF2, and seem to complete a little smoother and faster.

Shinobi Gaiden replies: I dont know why but: suspending other projects does not make it continue working. It simply never works now. The file stopped. The question now is: Were Olympics instructions tried or not? If not, we don't know if it was the stuck HPF2 syndrome! |

@people with the same problem.
----------------------------------------This problem with HPF2 was first discussed here . Abortion is not necessary: MD-Crusher has given the right solution (two posts before this one). Exiting BOINC and restarting does it also. ![]() Ask not what the world can do for you - ask what you can do for the world. |
