i haven't been able to access the site for over a week now
the boinc client cannot access it either
i can get here in "safe mode"
i am not using a router running winxp sp2 disabled firewalls & anti-virus
removed host files & tried a static ip address
i'm at a loss at what to do
i've had configure boinc to do off site tasks until i get this sorted out
any help would be greatly appreciated sad

This is a puzzle. I don't think that anyone will have any ideas unless you tell us a lot about your situation. For example, what browser do you use? Can it reach other sites but not WCG? What sort of security programs do you normally run?

Re: can't access site

tkx for the reply Lawrence
i'll try to give you as much as i know, if i miss something let me know

os- windows xp pro sp2
browsers tried- firefox, seamonkey, ie 7, mozilla & opera
two sites i can,t log on to(i get timed out error), this one ,wcg, and break.com
no other problems browsing
it,s definitely a windows problem as i can get here in "safe mode"
i'm running- outpost firewall and tried it uninstalled
- nod32 2.7 and tried it disabled
scanned with nod32, ad-aware,webroot, spybot, all come back clean
i've backed up and deleted host files(C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc)
cleaned all private data in with browser tools and ace utilities
setup a static ip- no effect
i think this has something to do with host files but not sure how
the main problem is that the boinc client cannot reach wcg so now its not doing what we want it to
(you dealing with a guy who needs his grand-daughter to set up his cell phone, so any advice is appreciated & helpful)
tkx again confused

PeerGuardian 2

PeerGuardian 2 is Phoenix Labs’ premier IP blocker for Windows. PeerGuardian 2 integrates support for multiple lists, list editing, automatic updates, and blocking all of IPv4 (TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc), making it the safest and easiest way to protect your privacy on P2P.

That sounds like it, alright!
