Re: Unable to connect

I have the same problem since yesterday.
I reinstalled boinc, but no result.
My firewalls are turned off, the isp did not block me any ports.

It's very odd because I can't send/receive packets from rosetta, wcg but Seti@home and climateprediction.net works perfectly fine.

Can you help ?

Re: Unable to connect

Ok, sorry for the delay. It started to work again some days ago.

Re: Unable to connect

This is a reply to the original post.
The BOINC can connect to the reference site, but not to the WCG server. The BOINC reconnect every 60 seconds, it go on for hours, and the problem don't go away.
Try this: Exit the BOINC and restart. On my machine workunits are sent to the server so quickly that they are gone when I open the folder to look for them. This problem originates in that I cut power to my cable modem, and the BOINC need to send in a result file, so it cannot connect. The problem the occurs when I switch on the cable modem again. 2.66 MHz XP SP2.

I have a discussion on the BOINC forum on this, but on the BOINC 5.10.13 it is still not fixed. This problem, i.e. the one that I have, is basically some problem with Windows.

Happy crunching!

Re: Unable to connect

Is it a modem or a modem/router combo? If latter, are you using fixed LAN IP or DHCP? Never experienced this using fixed LAN IP. Many times soft-booted the router to get a fresh IP from the ISP. Word is that it's to do with BOINC(?) DNS caching and the latest BOINC versions refreshing this quicker.

Rather than exit/restart BOINC, think selecting a stuck file in the Transfer Tab and hitting the "Try Again" button in the Transfer tab of the BOINC Advanced View, it forces a refresh and will run. Some older versions could not recover from 'middle-of-transfer' interruption, but 5.8 definitely can and it's even better.

Re: Unable to connect

I ended up discovering that I have more computer issues than just Boinc. At this time, it appears that a CheckDisk has solved the problems.

Thanks for the info!
