I have searched and found no discussion that answers my question, so I will ask it here. Does anyone know if the credits acquired using UD will carry over to BOINC??

It hasn't so far.
----------------------------------------It sort of goes in the other direction here. BOINC credit goes through a fudge factor and is added to the UD credit for a WCG overall score. The UD credit will probably be maintained somehow here at WCG for statistics. I really doubt whether it will be posted to BOINC, since there are over 50 other BOINC projects out there and a standard BOINC interface that doesn't care about UD. WCG has had to do its own tweaking to maintain both results. http://stats.free-dc.org is one statistics gathering site that has a WCG statistics page for BOINC only and another for BOINC+UD. With that said, there will probably be a lot of discussion about it. You might post something in the suggestion area with this concern. You can convert to BOINC at anytime to reduce the problem, as many of us already have.

Hello SargeD @ SETI.USA,
The WCG website shows all the points that a member has earned on the World Community Grid, whether using BOINC or the UD client. Points are explained [huh!! - - with all the talk at the time, I do not find any obvious explanations in Member News or Start Here!]. Well, I will explain it here. BOINC points are quite different from UD points. Like comparing apples and oranges. Since the statistics started out with UD points, BOINC points are multiplied by 7 and then added to member totals. The conversion factor was decided on after seeing a batch of work done on BOINC and on UD. But the UD points are capped at a maximum CPU speed decided on early in the decade, to reduce cheating. CPUs are much faster now, so BOINC will give much higher scores on modern computers. We have written so much on points, it is hard to believe that the index in Start Here will not show an obvious post that explains everything clearly, but apparently these posts are all in the Support forums or in Chat. Here's another thread about it in the BOINC agent area

I'm surprised the points jockeys have not dissected and analyzed this credit overjoy.
----------------------------------------- When WCG started with BOINC on Linux, a ratio was computed of 7:1 to get on par with UD credits. - When WCG launched BOINC on Windows, there was this "......." treatment. The Linux benchmark was only about 55%, yet the Windows credits were given the same conversion factor! - Then, when UD client is capped at 2x a reference machine, there is no capping of the BOINC device ratings.... and the reference machine still being the same reference machine. - To top it up, the Linux benchmarks have been upped to Windows levels. Except for projects that were true to awarding cobblestones for ops, the time multiplied by benchmark value is a dubious inflated measure with mixes of 5.4. low claimers with 5.8 wobbly claimers and 5.10 extra 105-110% benchmarks of the previous version claimers. Now what am i getting at.... the UD points are not what they are, a veritable hotch potch / goo of what was contributed. How does one ever convert this back to BOINC points with the potpourri of ways the points were acquired? Don't think it can be done equitable.... ... With the ball in court, enjoy I throw in here that if ever the community who lives at sites like BOINCstats would accept that global consolidated individual and team results get distorted by those that ran UD or a UD / BOINC mix at WCG, will not take kindly. The BOINC crunching community is well over 1 million members! I can see how WCG team numero uno suddenly becomes the top dog thru the points clawback.... 2 billion UD points at divisor 7 would become 286 million BOINC points.... they have less than a million BOINC credits and suddenly they'd be spot six on global BOINC.... don't see this as being in the any flying zone..... .... again enjoy Added: I see retsof found my previous rantomania on the matter. ![]()
