With the old application I had virtually none, but I've had a couple of bad WU's already with these new 5.40 app ones - not big great deal in the great scheme of things, but just wanted to make you aware.
Here is an example: ![]() |

Hi AdyWebb,
----------------------------------------Looks like this one reached the maximum error limit of 7. The techs are monitoring this new version and surely will get a report of this one kicking out completely. Interesting is that 4 of them failed right at initialisation.... maybe one or the other saw the error and pre-empted, which makes me thing we may need a 10th condition in the Result Status page of 'client aborted'. The run times are certainly spread widely... have 1 machine with times varying from 5 to 8 hours. cheers

I suppose I should think myself lucky mine aborted after 15 minutes - at least I didn't waste 8 hours like the top one

I have had the same issue. Yesterday, when I restarted my computer, I had the 2 FAAH WU's I was in the middle of crunching and 4 I had not even started report with errors. All 6 are listed below.

We have seen 27 workunits fail in this way (the way that Adywebb refers to). We are working with Scripps now to determine what the source of the problem is and either correct it or prevent those workunits from being sent out.
At this time we have successfully completed 64,543 workunits with the new code. Due to the very low number of workunits impacted, we are going to allow the grid to continue to run the project while we work with Scripps to resolve the issue. downtowndan - the problem you saw was probably the 'vista' problem. The other results returned for the workunits you mentioned completed correctly. I refer you to this FAQ (and to other members of the forums) to obtain further help. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=12856 |

I changed the properties like it suggested and then restarted my computer to test it out. I worked. Previously, I would have to shut down boinc, wait a few minutes, and then shut down my computer. After changing the properties of the .exe file, now I can shut down the computer normally and not lose uncompleted WU's to errors. |

thanks to staff for responses and follow-up, in clear contrast to certain other distributing sites
i guess we're lucky only a small percentage have the errors so the project can keep moving. |

We have gotten information back from Scripps and have made a small change to the code. We are testing this in our development system now. If it runs well we will release this fix tomorrow.
