confused Accepting Team Challenges

So, it seems there is currently a bug (at least from our perspective) in the Team Challenges that has to do with accepting challenges. Right now we are displaying the link to join an open challenge or accept a closed challenge (for teams that are invited) even after the challenge starts.

This has led to the interesting situation where teams are joining challenges after they've started. I'm posting this in the Suggestions/Feedback forum so that we can get suggestions and/or feedback about how to fix the problem.

There are basically 2 options:
1. We can change it to match our original design so that teams won't be able to join a challenge after it starts
2. We can allow teams to join a challenge after the start date, but only the stats accumulated after they join the challenge will count towards their score

If you really want, you can vote for option 3: Let teams join a challenge any time during the challenge and get credit for their scores for the entire period of the challenge (this is what is currently happening due to the bug). I don't know if people will really think that's fair, though, so I'd encourage you to reply with your vote of either option 1 or option 2.

Re: Accepting Team Challenges

Option 4. Let our team challenge their team after the challenge is over. If our score is bigger, we'd WIN!.

After the challenge starts, either start a new one or refuse new applicants. No betting after the horse race starts, you know.

retsof, I hope not too many members see WCG as a gambling field... smile
Even with choosing the most restrictive option 1, placing bets in races where the muscle mass or the number of legs of horses can be doubled or tripled unpredictably during the race would not be very wise anyway. smile

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Accepting Team Challenges

Oneguy has offered a combination solution I prefer.
if it is a closed challenge, then option 1 (no additional teams);
if it is an open challenge, then option 2 (only points generated after the team joins);
which makes this option 4.

Re: Accepting Team Challenges

Option 4 was already taken by retsof :D

Option 6: Seeing one team in a challenge leaving the other far behind, possibly just a team target solo run option. And would still like to see a field where the challenger can expand on the game plan.... i.e. add 25% to daily production by end of challenge.

Also, it would be nice to have a screen where the daily results are listed out side by side to show a daily winner.

Re: Accepting Team Challenges

I'm going for option 1.

But can I put in another request for handicaps? It's no fun unless the teams are evenly matched.

There's something to that. We're not going to touch Easynews unless there's some incentive.

If it's a sulky race, each horse would have 4 legs and 2 wheels.
If it's a camel race, they even have robot jockeys now. Children are no longer allowed.

Even getting the Base Campers to help us for a month only pushed us up by 50%, where we would need something like 10000% to make it even.

rose Re: Accepting Team Challenges

Has anyone decided what is going to be the answer to this?

My team is split between option 1 and 2.

Hope to hear something definitive soon, so we are all on the same page biggrin

Thanks!

Diana

Re: Accepting Team Challenges

It was changed to only allow teams to join a challenge before the challenge starts.
