Why does the client keep it's own proxy info instead of using IE

Why does the client keep it's own proxy settings when it could use IE's settings? (In windows)

Since I go back and forth from the client site it would be easier to just change this in one place.

I was experiencing problems when I made a proxy setting change, it didn't seem to commit. Anyone else experience this?

Re: Why does the client keep it's own proxy info instead of using IE

My guess is that UD do not want to depend on IE being there for proxy settings. This makes sense if you wish to have a code base that is portable and can be compiled on multiple platforms. Even on Windows, not everyone has IE as they may have removed it.

Regarding the proxy settings not sticking, personally I have not had this issue as I have different proxies depending on what machine I am on, where I am in the country etc.

Does this only happen on one machine or multiple installs ?

Also, if I understand you correctly, I would suggest that you check with the client ("the client site") if it is OK to use their bandwidth, even thought it your laptop, for sending and receiving WUs.
