Dr. Stewart --
It doesn't surprise me that you never heard from anyone. There is no facility for team members to obtain the e-mail addresses of other team members within the World Community Grid. I did some further checking on team "USA - Minnesota" and it would appear that you are the only active member on the team. The most productive member of the group retired from it on January 14. The other two members appear to have not returned a result in over two weeks which might mean that they have totally dropped out of WCG. If you are looking to find an active team that does interact with one another, we would welcome you on our team "my online team". We have a nice team website which you can visit to check us out, just click the link in my signature lines below to see. Our team captain has set up member profiles within which members may list their e-mail addresses for communications. Even better yet, he has included a chat facility on the website, although this has not gotten a lot of use as yet. Check us out -- we would be happy to have you join us. |

Hi, Thomas.
----------------------------------------I am not sure I understand just what your real question is. I looked at the Global Statistics by Member for you and saw that you joined on 27 December 2004. You have returned 1 result. Oddly, the time for Last Result Returned says 'Never'. This is an odd contradiction that I have never noticed before. Perhaps the result was returned several weeks ago and the database only searches a limited time period for a result? The purpose of our current Human Proteome Folding Project is explained on the website of the Institute for Systems Biology at http://www.systemsbiology.net/Default.aspx?pagename=humanproteome . This is a successor project of the Human Genome Project which mapped the genes defining the sequences of amino acids from which human protein molecules are built. We are trying to compute the ways in which these long strings will fold up and bind to each other to form the actual protein molecule. This is a tough job for many reasons. The molecular biologists need theoretical protein designs so they can compute the expected NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) signature of the computed design and compare it with the real data. The end goal is to discover the real structure of human protein molecules so that medical researchers can use this information. Or perhaps you are wondering what happened to your team? Well, some teams chat a lot in Teams or the Chat Forum. Some do not. Please let me know how I can answer your questions. Better still, join ImLadris. We are small, very helpful, and extremely friendly. Apart from which, we could do with having a good doctor around the place. Some of us being a little long in the tooth.
