1. "I have a _______________ (friend/relative/teammate) who" means I have a problem that I'm ashamed to admit because you'd know how inept I am.

2. "Running this project causes my computer to _____________ (BSOD/overheat/freeze/lockup)" means running the project reveals that my computer had hidden issues when I got here.

3. "I cannot download/install/get work" means the person is
  • Running multiple pop-up blockers (e.g. IE 7.0 with multiple toolbars with pop-up blockers)
  • Is clueless about running registry defenders such as Windows Defender/Spybot Search & Destroy with Tea Timer (never read Help since installing)
  • Has a firewall (two or more) which they don't know how to use
  • Trying to download and install behind a proxy at work and doesn't know about a proxy or the unauthorized use of their employer's computer.
  • The browser has been set to "Work offline".
4. "Your project is causing _______________ (problem)" means I am running the project, have a problem, and I want to give the problem to you.

Add a few of your observations!

5. "This website is now closed" means:-

We can't afford to run your programs. Find somewhere else to put them (if you all had the foresight to copy them all elsewhere)

Re: Forumspeak

6) I never make any progress means:

  • isn't using a service and doesn't log in
  • chooses 'exit' instead of 'close window' in the manager
  • powers down their computer using a power strip
  • just might have encountered the same bug the rest of us are seeing

Re: Forumspeak

It isn't working anymore and I didn't change anything (I just bought a new PC, changed ISP's and am now coming in through a home network instead of dial like I used to).
