Well, we ended the week quietly but busily. There was a good bit of movement in the team ranks. It was a good work week for us. We passed the halfway point from 31 to 32 million points and should hit 32 on Sunday or Monday. We did lose mlafferty and Jo Johnson from our active crunching ranks but had quite a few milestones this week. Along with the three milestones with special recognition - marysduby, Pandas Dad and Silver Surfer - we had quite a few others at all levels from Compudude's 58 years of runtime to the points milestones ofHarry de Swart, shawnangelo and - dc and the results milestones of barney15c and johng with folks in between as well.

Thanks Keith. Bit quiet round 'ere, innit? ![]() All part of the apparent cycle of things here in the team thread. It was pretty active during the base campers' visit but we had a quiet spell before that. This too shall pass. |

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone on there outstanding achievments as of late!! Things in the area are finally getting back to normal. FEMA got here quickly and is helping families get things in order so at least they have a direction to go in rather then no direction. The people of this area have been great in helping those who have lost everything. Radio stations did a 12 hour fund raiser and raised close to 500,000 dollars for the flood victims. Not bad if I do say so myself. There is still a lot of good people left in this world!! NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!! Take care eveeryone have a good night and we'll be back soon to see who did what next. Al, it's good to know you're okay. I know folks say it's just material things and they can be replaced but I know it still has to be tough on folks. There's a lot of things that have sentimental value that the insurance companies just don't particularly care about, assuming they're even things that could be replaced to begin with. Not everyone has insurance and, even if you do, it isn't alway enough. Rebuilding is an even bigger challenge since the local craftsmen have more work than they can handle in the near future so you have to either wait, and sometimes wait, or try using one of the outside outfits that come in to help address the demand and pray they're honest, much less competent. The disruption and stress can be intense. The lucky ones get "back to normal" (it's a NEW normal, not the old normal you were used to) in a year. Like so many of the Katrina victims, you can end up with next to nothing, no home, no insurance and a mortgage to still pay off. It's heartwarming to hear of folks helping each other there with the fundraisers and such. It's also good to hear the FEMA seems to have been so thoroughly shamed by Katrina that they've really turned themselves around to do the job they should be doing. There's been similar stories in the press about them with other recent disasters so it seems like the changes are for real. |

Here we go again. Tuesday & Wednesday were my 'weekend' this week, and tomorrow I begin another 84 hours over 7 days. They say that there's no rest for the wicked, but I don't recall having been quite that wicked. Keep the fans blowing and the CPUs glowing. ![]() Seven 12 hour days! Whew! The things we put up with to keep the creditors happy! Take care of yourself and don't overdo it! |

Keith.
Just for the record, I've started running BOINC 5.10.20 for Windows. So far it's been stable. |

Yes, while the 5.10.x stream supposed has problems, it's clearly nothing like 5.8.x given my experience. I was still running 5.4.11 but upgraded to 5.10.13 on my C2D box as Cosmology@Home required 5.8.x or higher. It's run well so I just upgraded my old box to 5.10.20.

Keith, does it take a while for Cosmology@Home WUs to start showing actual progress under the progress column? It's been running for a while on 1 of my PCs with no visible progress having been made, and my PC seems to have slowed considerably.
