Is there any way to adjust the timer for 'snooze' mode in BOINC?

Maybe if you take the source code and chng and compile it with a different value as the 60 minute standard ;>)
----------------------------------------If you explain us your thinking we might find a slightly different solution like an automatic delay of crunch resuming after using the computer. That van be set to any time frame. ttyl

That van be set to any time frame. ttyl Is there anything short of recompiling that would allow this? Here's my situation: I have BOINC running all the time on my primary, dual core computer. But sometimes I like to play online games that last for hours. I've noticed after a bit that BOINC reingages. So far I've been suspending each of several jobs (up to 7) that load up via BOINC, then resuming each of the 7 jobs after I'm done playing. But that's kind of a pain. So I'm hoping there's some way to permanently snooze the whole kit and caboodle until I retrigger OR some way to set snooze for a longer period. Under the activity menu item there is an option to suspend BOINC. This will stop BOINC until you manually unsuspend it.

Yes, go to activity menu and choose the third from the top.... it will suspend the caboodle indefenitely. Also their is the idle resume option.... set it to e.g. 60 minutes and each time you resume the game, the idle delay resumes counting down from 60 minutes i.a.w. if you pause shorter than 60 minutes, it wont and if longer, you wont forget to visit the activity menu.

It is my experience with version 5.8.16 (version I'm running) that the idle time feature (last option under Preferences when selected from simple view) doesn't work - on ANY of the 3 machines it is running on. I have idle time set to 10 minutes and BOINC manager NEVER goes idle regardless of whether or not the machine is in use. I have to manually engage snooze mode to get it to behave. I thought this was already recognized as being a bug slated for a fix in the next release. ![]() ![]() |

Correct, it is broken in the simple preferences dialog.
But you can still clear the local preferences and use the website preferences instead. The bug was fixed in the alpha version some time ago. |
