Hi everybody !
----------------------------------------I am running the UD agent since nearly 6 months: initially with the HCMD project and now with the PF2 project. Until now, I did not experience any significant trouble but today I have some concerns. Indeed, the UD agent is crunching since July 1st and after 225 computing hours, the progress is only 5%. I did not reboot the system (Centrino 1.8 GHz, 512 GB). Should I stop the work and start a new task ? and loose the already performed effort ! ... Should I wait with enough patience ? In advance, I thank you for the response. Yves --- PS: I am also searching for a tutorial (explanation) regarding how to add my WCG statistic in e-mail signature or on web page ! |

I forgot to mention that I am running UD Agent 5.1.2.0, with a current CPU throttle of 85%, without screen saver (for sparing CPU computation resource). The system is only crunching and does not perform any other task (excepted Windows 2000 Pro OS).

Sorry to read you've been running 225 hours without much progress.
----------------------------------------Hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc keys simultaneous to bring up the TaskManager. Find in "Process" tab something called WCG_hpf2_rosetta.exe. Right click and terminate. The agent should fetch you a new job and give credit for the time already processed in vain. Normally, exiting the agent and restarting would let the stuck HPF2 job race forward again, but in this case you'd loose all the hours most likely, which is not a nice thing. The signature can be set up at e.g. www.dcstat.com Let us know cheers Added: Actually the science version is 5.1.20. The Agent version is surely 3.0 (2844). You can see that in the Graphics, respectively the preferences screen. Current Agents, Science and Process names and versions can be found in this FAQ: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/printpost?post=79905

Hello teammate!
----------------------------------------![]() Yves, since there will never be another UD-only project why not migrate this machine to Boinc too? It will perform as well or better and at least it will allow you to better monitor what it does, for example regarding checkpoints. Since you are already returning interesting results under Boinc for a long time I am sure you can achieve the change without too much effort. Also consider that WUs are usually less demanding under Boinc than under UD as far as memory is concerned. Cheers. Jean. |

Hi Sekerob,
----------------------------------------thank you very much for your answer. I did as mentioned but I have the feeling that the computed time has not been granted ! Anyway, it is not so terrible because we are crunching at first for helping the projects with our provided results and not for earning granted time. I thank you also for the mention of www.dcstat.com. It is a fine service and - even if I am not computing for competition - I am now able to provide some convincing advertisement. I wish everybody a good summer time ! Enjoy crunching ! |

Hello,
----------------------------------------I noticed since around three weeks problems between HPF2 and UD-agent (5.1.2.0). On several systems, agents are crunching without performing any significant (and measurable) progress. This problem appeared since beginning of July. I did not experience any similar problems with BOINC and HPF2. I can only recommend to follow Jean's advice (JmBoullier) and to switch to BOINC. Until now, I did maintain installations of both BOINC and UD-agent (because of HCMD project). Since HCMD project is completed, I will remove every UD-agents. Have a good (crunching) time ! |

HPF2 on UD *can not* run simultaneous with BOINC. Latter starves HPF2 science on the UD agent as it even gives way to BOINC low priority projects. You *could* run FAAH on UD.... that one does not give way, in effect shares same low priority idle time. It it *not* recommended at all to do that since both FAAH and HPF2 run on BOINC and the 2 agent would continuously compete, technically ignorant of each other.
