I've got a little problem with running UD on vista. It worked fine for two hours, stopped the work unit, downloaded the results even though it was only 40% in and now it won't upload another one.
What gives?? ![]() |

What gave?
----------------------------------------Vista FAQ should help along the way... put on your reading glasses as the information you provide is not showing in my Christal ball.... it could be a number of things and you have to work thru. Points 1+5 are almost automatic requirements to close down 2 most often found saboteurs.

I gave up in the end and installed the Boinc version and it all seems to be working nicely.
However on my Old PC running XP, it's doing the same thing, it downloads, uploads the next work unit and then it works for 4secs and then downloads the results. It's now saying agent paused and won't do anything. When I say anything I've even tried to uninstall the program and it won't even do that, something is very wrong!! I might try and install bonic on this PC see if that works. Thanks for your help. |

Hello Lennox73,
----------------------------------------Reboot, then Right click on the WCG icon, then select Exit. Then go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs and try to remove the World Community Grid. What does it say? If you still cannot remove it, go to your startup file and remove the WCG icon. That will keep the UD client from starting at boot and then you can safely remove the WCG directory (and choose 'blank' for a screensaver). Once the UD client is gone, download BOINC 5.8.16 and attach it. Check your default device profile and consider using the maximum setting. Lawrence Added: be sure to install BOINC in C:\BOINC, not in Program Files. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 19, 2007 4:23:55 PM] |
