Anti Spyware Solutions For Windows Users

smile Hi Guys

I downloaded Microsoft AntiSpyware Bata 1 from the link below
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
I have found it to be 100% stable since I installed it 2 weeks ago
It found spyware that AD-ADWARE, SPYBOTS, SPYWARE DOCTOR, and BT-YAHOO ANTI-SPY missed
There are possibly a number of Malware and or Spyware programs running on your computers hogging memory and preempting cycles that could be used by your Grig Agent
A clean system is a lean system, so give it a try and make sure you are getting the best out of your computer

Let me know if it finds anything on those computers that you thought were clean

Regards

cool Re: Anti Spyware Solutions For Windows Users

Yes, back in November 2004 I was recommending Pest Patrol for people who wanted more than the free anti-spyware programs Spybot Search and Destroy and LavaSoft's AdAware. Then in December I suddenly came across a study that claimed that GIANT Software's anti-spyware was much more capable than any of the first 3. I had never heard of it before, so I looked over their website without buying. Then Microsoft announced that it had bought GIANT Software and put out the anti-spyware as a free Beta download. I have been trying it since then. It does not cause any problems that I have noticed, even though I have it running in the background to backstop my McAfee Firewall and VirusScan.

Of course, it has not found any spyware either, so I can not testify to its effectiveness. The last spyware on my system suddenly popped up in early December while I was surfing the web. Suddenly it was just there, trying to communicate out through my firewall and failing. So I searched the web for a description and removed it. Then I ran Spybot Search and Destroy to make sure it was gone.

Immediately after first cleaning my system with both Spybot and Adaware, the new program found two spyware programs that had gone undetected by Spybot and Adaware. Thanks for the suggestion, and hopefully it will now give some more CPU power to WCG!

Good point, although I prefer not to use beta software... I'll just wait until it reaches final retail... wink

I'll just run the beta, and hope to be acknowledged with a discount or free upgrade when it reaches final retail!

I very much doubt it. More likely that you will be charged for it if Microsoft don't want to go through another anti-competition situation.

I'm sure you are right... I was only hoping it would be free or discounted! I don't expect I'll get much for my efforts from Billy Gates.
