Hi Olivia,
I saw that jal2 (James ?) already gave you good advice. Indeed keep the stressed CPU temperature below 80C and you'll be fine, but preferably set the warning-level to ~70C to have some safety margin, it really shouldn't run even that hot on a desktop computer (laptops are a different story though). Both Intel and AMD CPUs from that 'generation' can run quite hot ... I won't be around much since my team's homebase is at tweakers.net and I mostly anticipate in other distributed projects, but I'll drop by from time to time. And even though we're on different teams, we're still on the same side ! Happy crunching and all the best wishes ... |

Lonnie has been an old friend of all the UD Crunchers - a well known member of Base Camp (I am a Member also but never contributed as much to other teams as Lonnie did.) Mike and Lighthouse were huge contributers also. Base Team is a Team whose members wander and "guest" at different teams which need help during the year. I've started to write members names but I'm so afraid I'll leave people out, that I'll ask them, please, to step right up and make their name be known: It was wonderful and we should do it again. At UD we had a remarkable leader who gave us badges for our service. Keeper of the Badges, the Honorable TLD knows every one! Isn't that a lovely concept? Finally....
----------------------------------------I'm working for a corporation who might conceivably install the WCG agent. They are supported by Big Blue on the PC front and I'm working alongside IT security so we are in with a shout for the first time. Please pray this works out. The end result won't be hundreds of new Christian Team Mates but a potential 5 extra years per day of crunching for the researchers Dave |
