You know I did that thing that all Christians are not supposed to do last Sunday. I've turned it over in my mind should I divulge to my Christian Buddies what this terrible thing is or will I be cast out of Team Christians never to darken their doorstep again.
----------------------------------------So here goes....... I went to see the Harry Potter Movie on Sunday evening there I have said it and do you know it was the best story, best movie I have seen so far this year - the story of the Boy Wizard. When my Kids were younger being of a narrow minded religious persuation I banned Potter from the house. So my Kids just watched around their mates on sleepovers instead. As carl.h so nicely pointed out going to Church doesn't make you a Christian, watching Harry Potter Movies doesn't make you a Wizard either. I happily allowed my Kids to watch all the Star War Movies, full of the Force and Yoda. I happily allowed my Kids to watch those Christian Allegories (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory) The Chronicals of Narnia and The Lord of the Rings packed full of Witches, Wizards and Sourcery. What a fool am I? My Kids have seen Tsunami's, Global Warming, Volcano and Earthquake Disasters, Famine, All manner of crippling diseases, War Zones, Paedophiles and Child Snatchers, Terrorist actions and the collapse of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center Buildings. The problems they face as Teenagers are Alcohol, Drugs and casual Sex driven by immense peer pressure this is real life Now back to Harry Potter Take away the Wands and this is a great story of Good Verses Evil and do you know what I left that cinema thinking (apart from the reference to "You can't do this alone" which is what Church is all about) I left thinking this... "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Sorry I could only find an old translation) This is who we are and it is important to be reminded daily of this and below is just one view of God who is by our side "His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance" Eyes like Blazing Fire - This is God who hears my prayers I'm am not just Dave stuck in Glasgow. You are not just Olivia/Diana/Robby/James/______ (Fill in the blank as appropriate) pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power Paul really can write. JK Rowlings has written a great book too. Nothing yet at the Movies has left me as stunned though as that last ever widening pan shot in the last few frames of Somersby immediately after an innocent Man gave up his life for those he loved. The whole cinema was empty before me and Deb could even move. I'll leave you all in peace Night from Glasgow Dave ![]() |

Hello, we're here at last, summoned by tech support!
Sorry you've all been waiting on us. To be honest, although our PCs have plenty of spare CPU cycles, we don't! In fact we took over the captaincy a couple of years ago as the post was vacant, and at the time it seemed just an honorary role. Anyway, we're very happy to pass the role on to someone who has more time on their hands. Having read the thread history it seems that Diana has been called to the role, and so if there are no objections we'll assign her as new team captain. Now just need to figure out where to click to achieve that... |

Hi James and Laura it's great to hear from you
----------------------------------------A ceremonial Baton will have to be passed . I think you have to sign out so that Diana might sign in but I think it will need to be a co-ordinated handover. We've been promoting this "little" team for a while in your absense, please don't go away again, stick around if possible. This thread is like a shining beacon with all the contributions from around the globe. We're not doing too badly either.Right I have to go get ready to achieve what I failed to do so badly on Friday Night. Even boxes of Electronic Components could use your prayers tonight. Night All Dave ![]() |

What a blessing to hear from you Hope Paris is being good to you and your family!Wow WCG has really grown in a couple years and new Team Challenges are available for some friendly games We as a Team have some choices to make concerning where we are to focus our collective attention and it just became necessary to have a more active captains role than was needed in the past. Oh it is with great joy to be talking to you! We do hope that you would have some moments to pop in to visit us! You have been a Consistant Christian Cruncher since the beginning and what a huge blessing it has been to be on your Team. God Bless!!! Diana ![]() |

The way to change Capt's is you have to Quit the Team, then rejoin.... The new person will enter the position after this. If you want to time this by email Click on Diana's tiny Email icon below one of her posts (you must be logged in) or go to your profile (upper left button) and check the team email and save it so Diana can email you in real time. Or you can just leave the post.... She'll be ready or I will to hold the spot Tonight God Bless you! Robby [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 18, 2007 11:05:11 PM] |
