Switching teams and current work

I am thinking about switching teams and I was wondering what happens to the work I currently have in progress and queued for work.

Who gets the credit my old team or my new team, I have 2 in progress and 6 queued?

Also when I switch do I have to quit the first team then join the second, or will joining the second automatically quit the first?

Re: Switching teams and current work

I think most all your questions are covered in the Help resource: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=teams

All points for work completed/returned and validated from 00:00 UTC of the day switching team will go to the new team.

Re: Switching teams and current work

Changing teams will automatically remove you from the old team. In progress work is a grey area it may go to either team under slightly different conditions. Work downloaded after the change will all go to the new team. Hitting update in each client will improve the chances that queued work will go to the new team.

Re: Switching teams and current work

That's not true: team credit is only calculated once per day. Work units have no record of what team you were on when the work was done or when the work unit was downloaded. The client has no effect in team credit calculations, and updating the client won't do anything.

So, from a credit viewpoint, your team change is backdated to 00:00 UTC of the day you switched, and all work validated since then is allocated to the new team, as Sekerob explained.

Re: Switching teams and current work

Switched yesterday afternoon, all my completed work units went to new team UserFriendly.Org, even my morning work units.
I think even my morning work units went to my new team because team stats only updated in the evening i.e. after I had switched.

Re: Switching teams and current work

Keck was probably thinking of a pure BOINC site. WCG is different as it uses the pre-BOINC logic of computing WCG points and allocation.
