You can by firing up the BOINCmgr and go to the Tasks tab, select thejob and hit the abort button in the left margin.
----------------------------------------BUT, before you do, how long do you let it run per day and how much CPU time does is accumulate? If too short, it will never reach the next checkpoint save.

I can let it run for an hour ...4 times a day. May be this is the problem ? Anyway I've aborted it and a new job that will last 36 hours is started. If I cannot finish it for the estimated date (30 giu) ,the work done is useless ? Many thanks. |

okay, let us find a solution: When you say 4x a day for 1 hour, do you switch off the computer each time or do you exit the agent? If you just exit the agent so you can use your computer exclusively, go to the Activity menu and select "Suspend". That will stop all processing without loss of computing time, whilst the agent is in parking mode. You need to also set "leave in memory" in the device profile to "Yes" and update the project to the client.
----------------------------------------Your present crunching activity will make a job projection very long. If you switch to the shorter Genome Comparison and select at bottom "If...... alternate work" box in the device profile, you can do those and if GC stops, it will automatically start getting work from the other WCG projects. Let us know ciao

sorry landolini, The exact text is "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project (this option only applies to BOINC agents)."
----------------------------------------Genome comparison is a bit different in that it saves every 10 minutes on the clock, so you should be able to make progress. ttyl
