How to force a new Device Profileon the client?

A coworker set his Device Profile to run only for a couple of minutes one day per week. That Profile is now active on his client. He has since changed the the Device Profile on the webpage, but the client has not gotten an update. I'm speculating that the client will not get an update until it tries to connect next time. The unit of work will most likely not complete, so I guess he will have to wait for the three-week timeout otherwise.

In any case, is there a way to force the client to get the new Device Profile?

Thanks,
Alex F.

smile Hi Alef

Right click on the Toolbar at the bottom of the screen and open Task Manager
Go to the processes page and click on WCGrid_Rosetta.exe
Click on End Process at the bottom of that box
This will kill the program
Go to Start/Programs/Startup
Double click on WorldCommunityGrid and as long as you are connected to the web, you should receive a new work unit
Your profile should update on receipt of this new Work Unit

Re: How to force a new Device Profile on the client?

The only process he has with 'w' is "winlogon".
It DOES show on my computer, which means the procedure we are following somewhat correct.
We tried it while the client window was open (by double-clicking the taskbar icon). I do not understand how the process may not be there. Is there another name under which the process may be running?

Any other way to force an update of Device Profile on the client?

Thank you very much for your reply,

Alex F.

Yes. :)
We just killed all the ud* processes. If I don't post back, it means it worked.

Thank you very much,

The profile is only updatd on the client when it communicates with the server, which only happens when it returns a result.

Killing WCGrid_Rosetta.exe will work, as the Agent will assume it crashed and report an error. In your case, WCGrid_Rosetta.exe will not be running, and thus not in your process list, if you look when your profile says not to run it.

Re: How to force a new Device Profile on the client?

so will killing the UD.exe work the same as killing the WCG_Rosetta?

Can you also set the PC system clock to be the time specified in the profile to get rosetta to run?

Re: How to force a new Device Profile on the client?

Sorry for the delayed report: killing ud*.exe did NOT work.
The times it ran were almost nonexistent, and changing the system clock was too intrusive for other applications running.

He uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. That worked.

If there is an enhancement wishlist: "Add 'Update Profile Now' button."

Thanks,

Alex F.
